Anyone see the pics on Dustin's website of his Alaskan brownie he killed this spring? Shot it at 176 yards (I think), 475 Linebaugh with a 4 5/8" barrel and open sights... one shot instant kill, two holes... now that's shooting! Takes after his ole' man! I'd post a link if I were smart enough to do it.

Thanks kaytod, you can bill me for the IT work. I swear that 475 Linebaugh Dustin is holding looks like a Bisley Vaquero. Can it be true?

I'd post a link if I were smart enough to do it. I thought that was several years ago? Nice looking Griz and a heck of a shot. I shot one at 165yds but it was with my 325wsm! 200yds is my personal limit for Griz with a scoped rifle. Less than 50 for bear if I ever get the opportunity. Just goes to show the naysayers how powerful these bigbore handguns are and how deadly they can be in the right hands. The man obviously knows his gun and has honed his markmanship skills. Hat's off to him I say. I've read comments from Internet Armchair experts who question the ethics of taking a shot like that with a handgun....BOSH... There are guys running around the woods with the latest uber-magnum rifle with the giant light seeker scopes who would have no business taking the same shot with the gun clamped in a vice! It's all about the man knowing his weapon and his own ability to shoot it. my .02

Snyd, I think your right, few years back. Also agree, all about knowing your gun--and some folks can just simply shoot. I like to think I can shoot way better than the average fella, and when to the range it usually seems so--but then you have some fella come along that is simply on a whole new playing field. I recall watching this guy many years ago toss pebbles up into the air, not bigger than a pill, and shoot them with boring consistency. Never could figure that one out. Would seem physically impossible, but he did it over and again. Simply amazing. I have to work hard at precision accuracy, and I think he would have to work hard just to miss.

Takes after his ole' man! I'd post a link if I were smart enough to do it. Nope. He is a MUCH better shot than his old man -- and JL hmself will tell you that! ;D

Thats awesome. Theres a video on youtube of a guy hitting a 2 foot square steel plate at 400yrds with a 500L. I don't think I could hit a rabid soda can at 20yrds with my jrh.

Practice makes perfect, but only perfect practice counts.
As in most things in life, beleiving you can do it and actually trying to do it are the biggest factors.

With Dustin he didnt Believe he knew he could make the shot... Live with one gun on your hip for so many years it become a extension of you and you can do amazing things with it...

I've seen the mounted bear and talked with Dustin about the hunt. The bear has a line down the center of it's chest and it's perfect to line up a front sight with. That hunt was the result of one gun and one load and a lot of years of practice.
