What do y'all think of this one? www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=294836619 Too late to change my mind, but am curious what folks think. Have come close to biting the bullet on a TLA or override toy, but held off with condition and/or value questions only to miss out. They all seems so expensive these days but have to remember the ability to get south of a grand at Texas gun shows are long, long since gone. Figure if I overpaid, hopefully not by too much. The border special is a model I had always wanted and back in the early 2000's, when I had a handful of these, it was the one model I was never able to nail down. I had been following another TLA on the auction and logged on tonight to see this one just listed. Couldn't resist. I do not know the seller, all feedback are for purchases, but all positive. Hopenthendeal completes smoothly. Christmas-morning-kid excited here.

I haven't a clue as to value but it's a darned fine looking sixgun!! The rear sight threw me for a moment but the whole piece looks like it would make a great CCW sixgun! Best of luck.

Looks like a good buy. Always thought those were cool looking little sixguns. Missed another one, that was local too. Can I have first right of refusal should you decide to sell. Congrats! GS

Now all I need is a .452 drill bit to fix her right up. Kidding, maybe this little gem will help me branch back out into 44's. I have a Harton conversion in the safe a good while now that I haven't fired since buying off rugerforum. Really excited to just get this one in my hands.

you can sell me ten of Gene's knives for a hundred dollars apiece and that'll cut the price in half!........

Shoot, I already parted with a couple dozen of Gene's knives to finance a custom revolver and a long-range rifle a couple years back. Cool thing with collecting fixed blade knives is you can keep them coming far cheaper than six-guns. You start getting into some of the older custom folders and difference goes away quickly. I almost hesititated for a second on this gun because you just mentioned some cool guns coming on the market in the future--but figured I could always part with an Ingram or two to help ease the pain. Just not this one. Its one of a set that I gave my FIL in exchange for his daughter. Will

Nice score! If I hadn't been on the road, that would have been mine. I think that one was on the market last year, sometime. Looks a lot like another that was on GB. Please, please, please send me a data sheet on it when you get it!

Like Cubrock, it is a good thing I was out of state or it would have been headed to Oregon. Hey, want to swap for an unfired #5 in 44 Mag that has the right hardness on the internals?

Likely Not. I might be interested in trading something else on that gun you just got back from Houston at some point though. This was the one model I wasn't able to track down back in the day before I parted with that .41 mag flat top target that I believe now resides with you.
Think it would take something with a brass Bisley frame or muskox shoes to make me part with this one anytime soon. Since its not a 45 or larger, sooner or later I bet I'll tire of it, just might take a while.

I'm assuming that the cylinder frame is the same as the #5. That little 44 mag has got to be a chunk! I'd think that Bill Grover got around that Ruger birdshead that looks so good but feels so bad in my hand. Since it is Collector Unobtanium all that is moot...

Grover came out with the Border Special years before Ruger came out with the Vaquero, much less the birdshead Vaquero.

Chicken or egg.... Doesn't matter to me if they both feel like you have a black walnut cupped in the palm of your hand.. Just making the point that for my hand that is not a proper shooting shape. Works just fine sitting in a collection.
