Those factory rings won't give you what you need for the red dot stuff.. Spacing and/or height complications pop up. Want me to bring you a set to hold a while until you know exactly what you need?

I've mounted a red dot on my SBH Hunter with the original factory rings, but those are the same height. Not sure if the spacing is the same as the SRH, though.
Whitworth has an Ultra Dot mounted on his target gray 475L SRH using the factory rings.
What issues have you found that cause problems? The height was the only thing I was concerned about. Based on Ruger's ring selection chart, the objective size won't be an issue with the #3/#4 combo, but I wondered if the center turret housing would contact the top of the frame.

Some of the red dot scopes have large diameter AND long center sections. Don't remember what I successfully mounted but it would most likely be a 2X Leupold or Burris.. Now you want me to pull out a SBH and a Hunter to compare the ring mounting positions?

Ok, cool. The two red dots I have are 1" tubes, and they will both fit between the tight spacing of the Lovell mount on my FA, so I hope they'll go on the SRH. They are not the ones with the adjustable reticles and such (the "Match Dot") that has the loooong center housing.
Whitworth's is a 30mm Ultra Dot, and according to Ultra Dot's spec sheet that turret housing is just a smidge longer than the one on mine, so I should be good.
If anything I may need to put on the extender tube to be able to get the positioning right without clamping on one of the lenses.

I had an Aimpoint on mine and it would not fit between the rings. From past personal experience I would not use an extender tube to hold it in the rings. Tried that on 44 SRH and it sheared the tube off at the threads. I ended up using a Weigand base on my 454 SRH. It has multiple slots for Weaver rings and room to double them up even. I know a lot of people swear by the Ruger rings as being the greatest thing since sliced bread but I wiped out a scope on the 454 and a scope on the 480 because of them.

What caused the scope failures?

Simply put,The rings would not stay tight. I installed the rings and blue loctited them, them lapped them with a friends fancy Wheeler kit, then loctited the screws when assembled the ring halves. I marked the scope to the rings on the 454 and within 10 shots it would rotate. I also had a machinest friend surface plane the ring halves so there was .005 clearance between them when screws were fully tightened. On the 454 the front tube cracked and on the 480 the objective broke loose. I scrapped the scope idea on the 480 and used the Weigand base when I installed the replacement Burris. I will also point out, these were the older Ruger rings with the slotted screw heads too.

Hmm. I don't have any scopes in Ruger rings currently, just lightweight red dots. My Weaver 2x is in a Lovell mount on my Freedom Arms 454 and is rock solid. No Loctite at all on that one.
I did have a big heavy 2x-7x NC Star in Ruger rings on my SBH Hunter for a short time. These rings had the allen head screws. I didn't use any Loctite, and they must have come loose at some point during the first couple range trips, because the next range trip I couldn't keep rounds on paper. Found the rings loose, the scope rotated, and a sliver of metal shaved off the tubes from the rings sliding backward on the scope. And the front tube was loose on the center housing body (but I'm not entirely sure it wasn't like that before I mounted it, and just didn't notice it). When I put the Millet red dot on, I Loctited the allen bolts. The rings have stayed tight since.
