Seriously Fella's, Last night I took apart & cleaned my Colt Junior .25 with real checked wooden grips mind you!, that my Mom & Dad bought new in 1973 for a car trip across the U.S. & into Tijuana and back across the U.S. to PA again...But that's another story!!! Anyway, I hadn't cleaned it good for over a year. I don't know how it would have functioned with all that pocket lint that worked its way into the inerds!
I was ashamed AND fortunate that I hadn't had to called upon its services!!!
So keep your powder dry...and your guns clean! :-D

My only "pocket pistol" is a j-frame. I shoot it often enough to keep it in good condition.
BTW, I've found oil not to be good enough for bore protection in humid weather with pocket carry. I've started using a thin grease, called Slick Honey. It's a bicycle product, but very thin and heat resistant (won't melt out and leave the bore). After the gun is clean, I smear a patch with it and run that through the bore. I then run couple dry and tight fitting patches to remove any excess. I don't put this in the chambers, just the bore. I haven't had any corrosion issues since I started doing this (had a few speckles of rust that prompted me to start).

Up here in the snow belts, ya can tell when its winter, by the belly button lint. When its winter, belly button lint turns red or blue. Why ? Most Woolrich long handles are red, most poly type long handles are blue. Would I kid you ? steve b

A piece of lint will clog that .25's barrel Chris! I think it's the same diameter as the bullet and weighs more. ;D
I'd love to hear about a cross country trip that includes Tijuana...I was there in the 90's. Much fun, but I was a younger man then...

ahh, .25 autos....makes me remember Jeff Cooper's saying:
Of the .25 Auto, firearms great Jeff Cooper once famously quipped, "... carry a 25 if it makes you feel good, but do not ever load it. If you load it you may shoot it. If you shoot it you may hit somebody, and if you hit somebody - and he finds out about it - he may be very angry with you."

A good reminder Chris Thanks.
It's amazing just how much lint, gung, & dirt can find it's way into a gun that's carried in your pocket day in & day out. Frank

Fella's, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR REPLYS!!! I liked the "cloud of lint" around the barrel after the first shot!! :-D
Frank V...Your very welcome Sir!
Toroflow, I absolutely remember that article by Jeff Cooper that was in a very old Handgun Annual from the 70's I believe! I had it!! It also made reference to a fella that shot himself in the temple with his .25 and feeling no undo harm put a band aid over the wound and rejoined his party!!! Thanks for the reminder! But seriously, I really like my little baby "1911" HeHeHe! I made up my mind last night to care for it the same as as I do my M629. After all, It could mean a matter of life & death!!! Thanks again for all your inputs!!! Chris

I have a j-frame (Model 36), now semi-retired, that I carried in a hip octet with no holster since 1973. I take it apart about every two years and soak the whole thing, except grips of course, in a little bucket of diesel fuel overnight. It is always amazingly clean on the inside.

Thanks Sir for adding here! Your M36 sounds like it has become an extension of yourself. I bet your very proficient with it and one long term carry gun like yours can become quite a keep-sake!! And do I catch some reference to the Allman Brothers with your profile location? "Hotlanta" I love them!!!!!!! Take care! Chris
