It was too good of a deal to pass up. I've already talked to Jack Huntington about it. He said he built it in the early 90's, and if I take it to him ( his shop is only 1 1/2 hours from me) he said he would go through it and check everything out at no charge. What I'm going to have him do is, shorten the barrel and then copy Whitworths 500 max. with Turnbull color case hardening. Here are a couple of crappy pics I took at the gunshop.

Not bad... Fine price on that tag too! You are in good company here for the 500 Max... We like them!

Hmmm - that gun looks familiar. Didn't Max on the old board have one similar to that that he was trying to sell years ago? Wonder if it is the same gun.
Great snag! Can't wait to see it when you are done!

I've read that Jack can modify the Bisley gripframe so it's less likely to be a knuckle whacker. That's a modification I would be interested in.

Yes, he modified my Bisley grip and even with the heavy loads we run, it never makes contact with my knuckle. Well worth it, IMO! Nice score, Steve!! Congratulations! Very nice! I don't think there is another site with this many .500 Maximums!! Wow!

whitworth, about how much does Jack charge to modify the Bisley gripframe? I have a hard kicker that dents my knuckle with every shot unless I grip it lower than I should. It'd be nice to shoot it without having that happen.

I had a Clements built 500 linebaugh that used to beat up my knuckle Steve very nice, score. Jack builds excellent revolvers. You mentioned the "Gun Shop" are you in Lancaster, Ca? No, I live in northern CA. I bought the gun in Redding.

You got one hell of a deal. Jack's work is first rate and his Bisley "rework" is worth every penny. Saves your knuckle from total abuse. I'm not sure, but doesn't this look like Santilli's 500 Max? (and I'm not trying to cause a riot guys by mentioning the name). Either way, you stole it for that price. Kind of looks like Santilli's Max but if I remember correctly Santilli's Max was originally a Linebaugh built gun that Huntington worked on for him.

Those stocks look like Micartas and Santilli had walnut on his. The barrel band is simular IIRC. It might be the same gun. Who cares anyway?? I wanna hear how well it shoots???

It's got a nice "plumby" color to the frame and loading gate, NICE! I prefer the plumbiness to the CCH finish personally... shows character... nice find for a nice price! Congrats!

Santilli's also had the red front sight insert, but as Fermin pointed out, Santilli's had walnut grips. Axe, I believe Santilli's gun was made by Huntington.

Santilli. All I could remember was his handle, which I was trying to be discreet in using only a recognizable part of it.
As Fermin said, let us know how it shoots!
