As a long time member, albeit infrequent contributor to this august forum, I have developed a special fondness for Axehandle’s monkey avatar. I mean, I have nothing against his most recent avatar: that of a photo with his brother in a little wagon. It is perfectly lovely. But it is not the monkey. As a matter of fact, for quite some time I thought the monkey avatar was an actual photograph of Axehandle.
Like his toes appearing in posted photographs and his collection of superhero underoos (or were those 2Dogs?), the monkey was symbolic of all that was good about the Single Action forum. Indeed, Axehandle was the monkey and the monkey was him.
How could you not gaze upon the visage of that pugnacious primate and not feel cheered to the very core? And who among us has not looked upon that big chimpanzee grin and grinned back? Go ahead, admit it.
I am reminded of our greatest president of the 20th century, Ronald Wilson Reagan, whose entertainment career was largely buoyed by his association with a chimp called Bonzo. And who can forget the late great Elvis Presley, who once said “I like a monkey.”
I dare say I speak for all forum members when I say, I miss the monkey.

Yep, the monkey (actually an ape) has always been a constant, but not always in the current form. The smiling monkey (ape) was the result of some extended pissing contest (that Axe was calming down). I'd have to check the archives to see the previous one and the context.
