Is USFA producing currently? I notice Doug Turnbull's "Open Range" revolvers aren't being produced (listed as out of stock) and I believe he used USFA components.
Do any of you have one on order and if so, any word on wait times? I'd like to order something out of their Custom Shop but if they're behind on standard production, I don't see much of a point. Any word?

I have a revolver en route that I got Alex Hamilton to order just 6 weeks ago. In fact it was during the SHOT Show. When I called I talked to Gary at USFA to see if he could build what I wanted and he said he could. Called 2 weeks later to make sure it was properly ordered and Gary said it was being case colored already. I am stunned it came so quickly...so was Alex....go figure. Gary said it may be the last flat top bisley they send out. Got it in .44 Special.

I was told by USFA that they are almost a year behind. When I ordered my Flattop target Gary told me they had Bisley flattop frames and could build that gun but for a flattop target I would be waiting a while. I've been waiting 9 months so far.

Ouch....now I'm real happy I ordered my gun through Mr. Turnbull. He's now out, USFA is out....I'm not great at long waits....too impulsive I guess...hence my eclectic accumulation.

I've been told by them to expect a 9 month wait on a nickel 12/22, and we're an FFL. One thing I have discovered with at least four custom folks around the US is you CANNOT tell the economy is slow in the not so run of the mill firearm market. Their reputation is the best out of the box revolver in SA, and their wait times are a testament to that. Sucks but it is what it is.

Yeah, Gary just e-mailed me and confirmed the nine month backlog. I guess I'll try to work on a work-around solution.

From what I've been told, by individuals at two major dealers, USFA is, at best, down to a skeleton crew, and is producing few, if any, guns. 'Bushog' is the 1st person I've heard of, in a year, to actually receive a custom ordered gun. I was also told, by both sources, that USFA has always been Doug Donnelly's "hobby." Now, he's lost interest in his hobby. It happens. One has to ask, why the so called "backlog?" In this economy, has demand skyrocketed to the point, a 9 month to 1 year wait is to be expected? That doesn't make sense. What makes sense is, the info provided, by people in a position to know, is accurate. Face it folks, as much as we may not want to admit it, USFA is on life support. Why do you think Alex Hamilton has bought nearly 100 of the CDNN Turnbull guns? It's because he isn't confident USFA will continue.

I have several USFA revolvers, all purchased on order from my dealer from April, 2008 through February, 2010. Never more than a few weeks wait; SA's 32 WCF, 32 WCF/327 Mag, 38 WCF, 44 Special, 357 SM, 45 Colt and also a Rodeo II in 45 Colt. Very nice product and would be a shame to lose.

Yeah, I got lucky and I suppose it's easy for me to say but I won't tell a guy who owns a company how to do his deal.
Would he be getting this much attention if his revolvers were stockpiled and worth less than wholesale? Who knows what's up... but until USFA shuts there doors I'm not going to worry. Alex is great guy who picked up a bunch (not nearly 100) of USFAs that Turnbull had at a good price just like other dealers (CDNN). I seriously doubt he bought them from CDNN.
Wasn't Freedom Arms "going out of business" last year?
I watch the used market like a hawk and there are consistently nice as-new revolvers by USFA for sale all the time. Usually they cost less than you'd expect and models that are no longer available come up often. Just have to be ready to pull the trigger.
And..."shopping" is something to keep me busy until the custom order comes.

My brother ordered two custom pieces from USFA in January and told them he didnt need them till Octoberish time frame. Well both are in hand already, and one was given to me for a early 40th birthday present, 8 months early. I dont know the big picture over at USFA of what is really going on vs what everone on the various forums thinks is going on. Typically the truth is far different from reality but I know I am tickled with my new toy...

Hamilton presently has 62 listed on his site. He's sold several, which have since been removed from the list. I'd say about 20. At least a dozen, anyway. I haven't kept an exact count. So, if not quite 100, it wasn't far off that. And, I bet he DID get them from CDNN. I talked to CDNN and they stated dealers had bought quite a few of them. I'd wager a new Turnbull that Alex Hamilton was the primary dealer they were referring to. It's my understanding those particular Turnbull guns were ordered by, and sold to, a distributor out of Florida. That business folded and sold the guns en masse to CDNN. So, unless what I've heard is incorrect, CDNN was the source for those guns. Hamilton merely took advantage of the $1,199 price tag, turned around, and jacked it up to $1,500.

Please tell us exactly what he got. I'd be curious to know.
