I am considering the purchase of a .45 Colt Lever Gun to go along with my .45 Colt handguns. I would have liked one in .454 and just shoot .45 Colt Ruger Loads in it but I understand there is none being made at this time. I have heard that one of the custom companies will be releasing one, built from scratch, in the near future, but the anticipated price is around $2500
For those of you who have them, or at least know something about them, which is the best one for the money? I'd like to go with a 16 1/2" to 20" barrel.

Unfortunately, that is really not the case. They are shown on a number of sites, as well as the Rossi Site, but they are always listed as "Not Currently Available" and in a few instances, they also state that they are "Discontinued". Thanks for the heads-up though.

Best bang for the buck has gotta be the Rossi 92. I have one and it is surprisingly accurate.
The only issue I have with mine is an oversized (or at least, on the high side of max specs) chamber. I've had a few cases split when using heavy 300 grain loads with H110.

I get a few splits now and again, but mostly you can tell the empties are way oversized when you go to re-size them!

You mentioned a pre-safety model, does that mean that the newer models do not have the issue with the over sized chamber?

Actually no, in thinking about it now, my friend has a later Rossi (with safety) and it has an oversized chamber also.

I'm pretty sure the oversized chamber is common amongst all Rossi lever guns in 45 Colt.
I've wondered if just separating out cases fired in the Rossi for neck sizing only, and just dedicating those to use in the Rossi, would help with some of the case splitting issues.
Not that the case splitting is a common thing, I don't want to give the wrong impression. I've only had three or four total.

I have a Marlin 94 Cowboy Competetion that I shoot a lot and deer hunt with,I love it. I say this knowing that they are hard to find and expensive when one is found. FWIW I was looking for a Big Boy when I stumbled across the marlin.

I think a lot of this "oversize chamber" stuff with the .45 Colt is caused by carbide sizer dies.
The .45 colt is a tapered case. Carbide dies produce a straight case. Steel loading dies produce a tapered case with a "neck" section with paralell sides. Think .38-40 or .44-40 shaped. That's what a .45 colt is supposed to look like.
