Some of you guys know I fool around with gun leather and I find it relaxing and enjoyable. Plus you can make whatever you want.
This is all on an amateur level and in no way compares to the artwork produced professionally by others on this (or any forum). My apologies to anyone the ham fisted execution offends. I sort of look at each one as a prototype thinking that it I get it functionally right or close enough, I can go back and make one with a little better appearance. But I never do.
My current new direction is using red dot sights, the use of has amazed me and points out just how bad my old eyes actually are.
But how do you carry the red dot sighted thing?
I started making a holster to cover the entire conglomeration and that works okay. But it is big.
Then I decided to cover and protect the revolver and let the sight take care of itself. That's okay but taking a holster made for the open sighted revolver and cutting an opening to leave the sight out leaves the holster unsupported. So a retention strap is in order and darned hard to execute on a finished holster.
Then there was the Charter Arms Pug 44 special. Just stick it in the pocket is okay but...
Then there was a "pocket holster". Can't get either the holster and revolver out or just the revolver. So, back to the drawing board for a belt type holster. But I hate having to unbuckle and rebuckle the belt. SO I figured I'd make a belt loop that snaps around the belt. Here's how it turned out. Seems to work pretty well without having to mess with the belt buckle.
