I have read a few gunzine articles on the subject of one gun but I am just curious what the fellas here would carry if you could only have one gun. Me, I'm thinkin a Ruger Single Six convertible with a 6.5" barrel. Ammo is cheap and you can carry lots of it.

Coulda been Don. This topic would probably throw most of these guys in a rigor.:-) It's easy for me to say what one gun I would choose since I don't have that many anyway but guys like axehandle might have an issue. I believe this is how the shootists holiday got started. But like in all things I could be wrong. I didn't see the other thread and I apologize for stirring old puddin if it offends anyone. I'd just like to know what gun guys like axe, whit, robl and others would choose.

Tough choice! It would have to be one of my big hammers -- either the .500 JRH BFR or the SRH in .500 Linebaugh -- that way I would be prepared for the worst case scenario -- well at least the worst case scenario -- LOL!

5.5-6 Inch 475L in a custom Ruger or FA.. In fact that may actually be the only revolver I really actually own!

I've given this a lot of thought and found that if forced (and I DO mean forced) I would have to go with my 4" GP-100. My true thoughts are that I need at least two, a rimfire (Single-Six) and a centerfire as well which would probably be a .45 Colt Redhawk. For me, a rimfire is just too important to leave out, but not enough gun for everything else.

A .357 Magnum of some sort. GP-100 would be high on the list.

One gun...
I would take my 2nd generation Colt SAA 4 3/4 45 Colt. Not the most practical, not the best defense gun and not the best for filling the pot. But heck, it makes me smile very time I strap it on. If times were that rough, I would want that gun along.

Right! I'm thinking we should pull up all the old threads and see who is staying on the path and who swings and sways with the wind...

I'm sorry you feel that way Rob. I do a little pickin and singin here locally at a few regular venues (Boge may vouch for the talent) and there are a few songs that I do that the regular crowd wants to hear everytime I play. One being "Mind Your Own Business" by Hank Sr. My point is, if I felt the way you do about this subject I wouldn't get much entertaining done around here. Yes I get tired of doing the same stuff over and over again but I never get tired of the smiles on those peoples faces. And Rob I never get tired of recommending your leather when I'm asked who made my holster. Or a new member of this forum or any other forum asks questions about gun leather.
