Been a long while since I've taken this one out to shoot. Got some work to do up on the shooting range over the weekend. Been more then 2 years since this one left the safe. I've got some .45 AutoRim loaded up and figure it's time to burn through a pile of it.....worked up some reduced loads in .45 ACP that I wanted to try. Now to try and dig out the half moonclips I've half-buried somewhere... No sense in owning this thing, if I don't take it out and excercise it occassionally... giz

Appears to be an old Colt mod 17 chopped, bobbed and fitzed. Never cared for cutting away the trigger guard, but otherwise it looks fine to me.

I'd love to have it. I wouldn't ever carry it though without all of its trigger guard. Super cool.

Shades of Charlie Askins! Very cool old Colt! That tape reminds me of "Clemenza: It's as cold as they come, impossible to trace. So you don't have to worry about prints, Mike. I put a special tape on the trigger and the butt. Here, try it..."
You proly know to keep your thumb on the hammer as you holster that Fitz. In Shooting to Live Fairburne & Sykes go to great lengths explaining how to set up a Colt New Service in this configuration. Neat gun thanks for posting. Rob

GUT GUN!! I LOVE IT! WHO NEEDS A STINK'IN TRIGGER GUARD ANYWAY. I'D PUT THAT OLD FITZ UP AGAINST MOST ANY OF THE DEFENSIVE CRAP I SEE TODAY. A TRULY DEADLY WEAPON IN A SIXGUN MAN'S HAND. THANKS FOR SHOWING GIZ! MB

Thanks guys...much appreciated. It is one of my storied guns that I collected over the years. Something I tried to do was to collect guns that had a documented history and timeline, and I managed to put together a few of these... This gun has blood on it, and it's history dates back to the surrender signing on the Missouri. Would you believe that it has a original Berns Martin holster that was made to fit this gun....that holster made it safe to carry and present. Old Elmer Keith was a fan of the Berns Martin rig.... giz

I sure would like to see a picture of that Berens Martin rig. RE: So witch officer was hoping that to use that for coup de grĂ¢ce to the Imperial Generals on the fantail?

That is a fabulous piece of history that I'd be proud to own.
