Thanks to all of you, I know we've all had family losses in our lives, even when you know its time its still a struggle when it happens. Mothers are very special to all of us, we only get one & that one will sacrifice anything for her cubs, mine did! She had a tough but wonderful & full life, she was born on the family ranch, no electricity, no running water....except for the crick (creek) they worked from daylight until dark, even the girls, & there were 5 of them. They raised everything they ate, cured their own hams, shot several deer every year, grew huge gardens & had a root cellar that was lined with straw & huge blocks of ice to keep the carrots, taters, onions, apples & other food items cold & fresh. They rode horses to school, or walked. Back in those days there was girls basketball & my grandfather would put straw in the buggy, heat big rocks over the wood stove, wrap them in blankets & place them in the bottom of the wagon & go to every one of mothers ball games, even though it was 50 miles one way to some of the games. I miss her but I'm also celebrating because she's at peace & she's with my dad & 2 of my brothers. She had a fabulous smile, a wonderful sense of humor & the most amazing eyes you'd ever see....& she was a prankster. One time, after several Busweisers she rode a horse into one of the local stores, she was 67 years old at the time, the photo of her hung in that store for many years but its lost now, wish I had it. Another time her & 3 sisters were trailing cattle from the ranch to summer pastures, it took them 3 days to move the cows, along the way mother & one of the older sisters got fighting & mother got the worst of it & climbed a tree, while her sister was circling the tree mother peed on her! She had a passion for snowmobiling & was still racing them in her 60's, the trophies piled up to the point they finally threw them away. Again, thank you all, my "Ruger" & "Single Actions " family is very special to me, thanks to all of you for the beautiful flowers & cards, it means a great deal to me.
