Huh - wonder why he is discontinuing them? They seemed pretty popular.

I'd think that they are labor intensive low demand items.. Sure we rant and rave but how many will really lay out $2000+ for a black powder revolver? Since I am the owner of one hopefully I can say, without being flamed excessively, that while we all want one, it takes somewhat of a fruitcake to buy one...

Anybody beside me think a .500 s&w BFR would be a good candidate for a black powder conversion?

Blackpowder would be a good use for that overly long cylinder window.
Speaking of black, a friend of mine said the 45 Colt was much worse in the recoil department when loaded with black powder. I wonder how much of a handful a 500 Smith would be with a full case of FFF and a 400+ gr cast boolit? Or even my 475

Shooting from the hip I'd guess that "semi custom" black Micarta grips would be some aftermarket panels that have been properly shaped and fitted.

Or even my 475 That has not been my experience with regards to recoil, but I know an easy way to prove your theory, if you don't mind some extra cleaning.

Axe, Since you have one, I'm wondering what he means by "semi custom" black Micarta grips? I know in the past he would start with Hogue oversized micarta grips, and then reshape them the way he does the wood ones.

I would say that Teks friend is correct when comparing them to smokeless factory or cowboy loads. At least thats my experience with the 45 and 44-40. Now with a case full of 2400 or 110 and a 255 to 300 grain bullet there is no comparison.
