Does anyone here dabble with scatterguns? I am looking for just 2 loads. A heavy field load of 71/2's in a 20 and 12 using either Unique,Green Dot or Blue Dot, I own every manual that can be bought,BUT with the price of powder and shot I CANNOT afford to try all of them. I have a HEAVY 12 ga load worked out for mine but my son's 20's are really causing me problems.

I love Unique in the 12 ga. Most trap shooters in my area like powders similar to Clays as they take less powder for trap loads. I prefer it as it is a powder use a lot in handguns. Plus the recoil impulse is "softer" than Clays speed powder. It helps when shooting a couple hundered at a setting.
I use unique in 1 1/8oz / 1200 fps loads. They are 22.5 grains. ( I use windjammer and winchester waa12 wads. Yes I know it's a substitue, it just depends on distance I'm shooting.)Data in the 2004 Alliant guide has charges from 22-23.5 for 1200 fps loads.
I use Blue dot in the 20 gauge. It sounds redundant, but 22.5 grains and a 1oz load for 1200 fps. Wads are generally winchester.
Hope this helps.
