Lee: between the hand cannons you build and this 600, you must REALLY like recoil . I don't have the guts to shoulder something like that.

Change of plans. Now I'm leaning towards a 600 Overkill: I followed the devlopment of the round closely on the Accurate Reloading Forum years ago. 900 grain bullets @ 2,400 fps is downright jaw dropping (and maybe jaw breaking). -Lee www.singleactions.comWell from the looks of that thing,I can honestly say that a more aptly named cartridge,I have never seen.

To live up to it's name, I think you should put it in a handgun Lee.

What are the legalities of a 1/10 larger (of 1") than half inch projectile?

I saw Ross's about 10 years ago and it was beautiful, didn't shoot it but shot the 4 bore. Wasn't horrible but wouldn't want to do a handful of them.

.
Have a 585 Nyati built on a left-hand Granite Mountain action.
It has a synthetic stock.
While testing it, the gun maker broke his hand resulting in the gun's total build time approaching two years.
Some would recommend the 585 Nyati Improved for extra power.

.585, .600, .900. You guys have problems with rogue Shermans in your neck of the woods? I can't even remember the last time I saw a Bren carrier in the wild, much less something with more armor...

Well thats just confirmation that Lee aint quite right. Ive always thought so from his handgun exploits but this just kins of cnfirms it. Posts a video of a guy getting a bloody nose from shooting a rifle and he says "oooh no... it needs to be bigger!". That aint right!

What are the legalities of a 1/10 larger (of 1") than half inch projectile? Any rifle cartridge can get a "Sporting Exemption" and be legal even if it's over .50. Examples include 600 and 700 Nitro express, and a large variety of African and a few military-based cartridges. Also, rifled shotguns. Of course, the ol' ATF can just as easily say a round has no sporting purpose for no reason what so ever. I have HEARD that there is NO sporting exemption for handguns. 0.50000 is all you're allowed. Rounds like 500Linebaugh, which shoot .51 bullets still have a .50 bore. A 500S&W has a .49-ish bore and .50x bullets. I think i saw a handgun in 600nitro, but perhaps that's not legal in these united states. Because all the gang-bangers might use it to rob the quik-e-mart! I recall some smith made a larger than .50 revolver on a redhawk ,but couldn't sell it because there was no way to make it legal. I believe it was for a classic old round, which escapes me completely.

Didn't Century make their .45-70 revolver in .50-70 as well? EDIT 1: Duuuur, I just realized that's still not over .50. I can't even blame it on being up past my bedtime or not enough coffee. Markbo, I believe "not quite right" applies to many of us. I wear the tag proudly FWIW... EDIT 2: see edit 1.
