I've been on vacation this week so I've been catching up on old Marshall Dillion episodes. I caught one today where he was in his office loading that big 7 1/2" SAA. He actually loaded 5. I was impressed until I remembered that he was taught how to handle a hogleg by Arvo Ohalla. Anyway it was nice to see something done right with firearms on a TV show.

Check the hammer. Likely that'd be a vintage Great Western he is loading, not a Colt SAA.

That's right, I forgot July, 29 was "Splitting Hairs Day".

Yeah! Colt, Smith & Wesson... Double action, single action... revolver, pistol... what difference does it make!

Sorry for the sarcastic comment no harm intended on my part. I'm new at this big bore, single action world. You have a sharp eye to see the difference between a clone and the real thing.

One episode always sticks with me. A couple drunks busted up a saloon before heading on home. Matt road out to their place the next day to collect money for the damages. He talks to the guy at the door and tells him he wants the money.
The guys says "I ain't givin him noth.... and as he turns to go back into the house, Matt grabs him by the shoulder and spins him around and plants one of those big hay makers on him while hollering "give me the money".
Matt wasn't exactly a goodie goodie lawman, he played by his own rules.
I guess they didn't holler "Rodney King" in those days.

Hard times demanded hard men. Talk to some WWII veterans about the islands or the first few days of the invasion of France.
