Thanks to 2Dogs here is my newly acquired 500 Linebaugh. arokcrwlr, I had the pleasure of getting to know that one before 2dogs had it. It is the reason I sent some Bisleys off for conversion. Very nice piece. Bill

I haven't shot it yet. I have brass on order - I can't seem to find any in stock anywhere. I am looking forward to getting it out and stretching its' legs.

heres mine all are Bowen's work Tom, How do you like that 500 on the Redhawk? I was always curious how that gripframe would treat my hand.

I have always liked the redhawk gripframe it works for my hand and the ports on this one do make a difference. I had a 500 RH with 4in barrel that Bowen just rebored the factory barrel and it was a handfull. I also have a 5 shot 45 with a 6in anaconda barrel that with full loads is all I want I have shot a 4in redhawk in 475 that was in my younger days I wouldn't want to now (in my mid 40s) so when I did a 4in anaconda I did it in 480

Thank You whitworth, That 500Maximum has a 7.2" barrel, and weighs 48ozs. making it fill a lot like a stock 45colt bisley w/ 71/2 barrel. I'm thinking about sending it back to Jack to give it a 6 1/2"Octagon barrel. Its really unfortunate single action maximum frames aren't being made anymore, they all seem to shot really well without looking or carrying like a short rifle. The 500Maximum is known for over the top recoil but by backing off top-end loads by 100fps they really are quite fun to shoot.

I'm going to have a 6.5-inch barrel on mine. I really like their size as well, really not much bigger than a regular Blackhawk. What is your pet load if you don't mind me asking? That really is a beautiful revolver!! Do you have more pictures of it?

I like 38grs of 4227,CCI 350 LPPs, and a 420GR bullet 1.99" OAL gives me 1420FPS. I got it from Taffin Tests. start with 35grs and work up from there. There's pressure tested load data here. www.accuratepowder.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/accurate_load_data_3.5.pdfthat load works well for 400-440gr hard cast bullets in my gun. I also really like 12grains trailboss for really lite loads. hope that helps.
