The Minnesota is shutting down and as such all Minnesota state parks are being closed on July 4th Weekend. Why are the parks being closed? I understand that the employees of the parks are not going to be allowed to work. But why should the park be closed? If there is no staff, can't the parks be treated as swimming at a public lake, pool, or ocean with no life guards on duty. Pretty much make it that if the public wishes to use a park they are at their own risk since there will be no one on duty.

If there's no park employees, whose gonna keep the public out?
I think the govt closes these areas to make the public angry. That way they'll besiege their congress critters with calls and mail telling them to get the budget going. Personally I couldn't care less if all the govts just shut down. We'd be better off.
