Hi Members ;D ,
After reading Boge is gittin hitched, thought to add my story.
Whatever happens in Modesto,stays in Modesto.Really ??
January 25,11,was the last time Rosie walked.
Back to the hospital, the 2nd time revealed why her side hurts.
And,what the surgeon said to both of us in early February, that really floored us. Bad news time...
In 3 or 4 maybe more nutshells,Rosie has about anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. She has inoperable cancer. She is too weak to
undertake the surgery.
Yes, a big "pow-wow" with her big family.
The last day,we were asked about Community Hospice.
I said that would be a good idea.
We have over the course of 20 1/2 years, tried to get married.
All of our attempts were sidetracked.
Chaplain Scott of Hospice got the ball rollin. Of course,I had to buy the marriage license.
And gotta throw in my bro-in-law. (yes, he rides a Harley)
We set a date;March 26,2011. All were notified. Nothing fancy.
Course, pics taken. We're still waitin fer the CD of pics.....
This time,no sidetracking ! Cold feet ? What's that ?
At the end,I had to push her in the wheelchair back home.
I told her on the way back,we should have tied some cans to the
wheelchair. She laughed.
Was nice and simple wedding.
Oh,and we still call each other names; Dear,sweetheart,sweetiepie...
Yeah,after all these years.
Then, there's things that throws your life up-side-down.
Morning of April 7,I didn't feel anything different.
Out of bed,my right side wasn't working good.
Got dressed, went to the living room, where Rosie sleeps on a hospital bed.
I told her "I think I had a stroke sometime last night or this morning."Her son had seen the "Stroke's No Joke" last night.
He looked at my mouth.A slight droop.
Wanted to know,call 911 ? I said "Yes".
Troops came out.My very first ambulance ride. Nah,no code 3,or code 2.
A usual heart monitoring was made.
ER was...interesting.No clocks. Had a C SCAN,and XRAY,
Blood workup. The tech came back after some time.
Was asked "Did you know you were a diabetic ?" "No".
3rd floor;Had a wireless heart monitor.And a neck sonogram,and an MRI.
Blood sugar was 315. Blood was very thick. 3 or 4 blood thinners.
Insulin injections. Yes,I take (now) Novolog and Lantus. Poke fingers 3 times a day.
And, whatever else diabetics do.
Yeah,life changing events.
From what I've read,I was on my way to be in a horizontal position, pushing up grass.
Then, even more "news";A nephew was brought in.His wife visited me while I was in my room.
He has cancer.Having treatments for it.
June 10,11.
I finally went in the OR,looking like Yul Brenner.
20 or maybe a little more tumors were removed.
One,a cancer was removed from my left forearms, near the elbow.
A suspected cancer is waiting for a pathology report.
Now,look like Yul Brenner and Frankenstein.Especially my head.
Well,if you're curious; turban tumors,neurofibromas,cylindromas.
Some do look hideous.
They are genetic, and take many years to grow.Mine took 20 to 30 or more years. They do spread through out life.Had a few on my upper torso.
At least,I'm doing somewhat better.
Legs feels like a bad sunburn,to walk. One leg was a skin donor, for the head. The other,2,4" incisions.
Pain will ease up over time.
I want to get out shooting again. But,no full house 454 Casull's.
The milder 45 Colts will be fine. ;D Will be a while yet.
You guys have a good week/weekend.
Richard
