take a look at the little S&W 63 ( I think) Nice little J frame, swing out cylinder, all steel/stainless construction, 6 or 8 shot capacity depending on model.
Bearcats or Single six is another good choice.
Autos are ruger MK 1, 2 or the politically correct 3 or Browning buckmark.

I have one I've taught at least a dozen kids and adults that have never fired a firearm before. I also have a Bearcat and love it, a 1974 "Super Bearcat" with steel frame.
But the all time winner and favorite is my S&W M63 Kit Gun. With the adj. sights, swing out cylinder, great trigger pull, and small chassis everyone feels confortable with it. They can better understand the "mechanics" of firing a firearm. I have some slightly larger grips but prefer the smaller factory stocks with the addition of a Tyler T-grip adapter, a little difficult and trying of patience to aquire these days.
It may a little difficult finding one these days and they never were cheap. They made a blue steel version and a lightweight M34 also. All fine heirloom quality. The 4" is best for what you want.

My daddy gave me an OM Single-Six when I was 7....fired untold thousands of rounds out of it. Wore out a few trigger springs & the hammer has been replaced due to wear...yeah...I shot it a lot. My boys are 16 and 13...they grew up shooting their own OM Single-Sixes my dad gave them several years ago. They both have MKII Competition Target 6-7/8" stainless .22 pistols as well. They also enjoy shooting my J-frame & K-frame .22 revolvers also.

Well, one cant go by Boge or Stan. One cant shoot and the other dont shoot! Here is a pic of the 1st three shots out of my Ruger MKIII. That is a 2" paster at 25 yards. While before I owned this particular gun I was a die hard 22 Sixgun man, I was put onto the Ruger platform by Nframe. ![](http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t256/Fermin_pics/IMG_0206.jpg)

Dang! Now the truth comes out! I'll fess up. Never did break 890 in the 22 match... Shot a bunch in the 880s with an 886 personal best. Bottom line is those Rugers can't be beat for the money. Somewhere in my stuff I've got a 10 shot 50 yard group inside the X ring that looks like Fermin's 25 yard Ruger group. Took a Hammerli 208S to do it!
