1911's have been present at my house for over 30 years & this year has been a good one as well. After a 12 year absence from IPSC shooting, I may have to go back & give it another try. They say the single stack classic class is drawing a big crowd & it sounds like fun. So, a few months back I went to work on one of my series 1 Kimbers. Took the trigger down about a pound, fitted a mag well, & hand checkered the front stap @ 30LPI. took the mag well off for now, but pretty pleased with the checkering, it's been a while since I've done one.

I’m down to only two 1911s. An old Colt series 70 and an alloy Kimber. The Colt satisfies my want for an old school plain jane 1911. The Kimber meets my want for a modern high speed low drag 1911. With both ends of the spectrum covered I happy with this “set”.

This year I finally got the round count of my safe queen Les Baer to 1000. The paper work that came with it said to shoot it at least 300 times & preferably 500 before calling with a function problem. One day I was shooting it & it just started feeing right, went back inside to log the round count in my records... & don't you know it, 565. This gun will be tight for a long, long time.

My dedicated cold weather carry pistol. Not a bad trigger for a series II. Shown with a Roy's Original Pancake that I've had for 30 years.

Don't have any 1911 pics to show. In fact, after 45 years of handgunning I've NEVER even owned one! I came within inches of getting shot by a 2nd Lt. in Viet Nam while he was demonstrating the safe handling and operation of the 1911.....long story. But now I'm starting to get the itch and when the Ruger SR1911 starts to show up at dealers around here it will be the year of the 1911 for me. I probably should own at least one....

You boys are going to inspire me to add to my set.. Was almost weak enough to spring for a Kimber SIS last week.

The 1911 I want is a Colt lightweight Commander. They are a bit pricy, but a dream to carry. Had a full size 1911 with an aluminum frame once, should have kept it. It shot well & was pleasant to pack. Frank

Well Axe, since you asked..... Only one so far. Should be a good test mule for the 255's at round 1K.

I know this is a 1911 thread but Wisconsin has recently passed its long overdue concealed carry bill and I celebrated by purchasing this...my ONLY centerfire bottom feeder. Back on topic. I have a Ruger SR 1911 on order and hopefully it'll be here before a new toenail grows in....... ;D

Oh, man! We have REALLY gone overboard with the feet and toes!!!! Back on topic: Here's a poor pic of a nice Pat Crawley custom. It has a wide body Para frame, Caspian slide and a Nowlin barrel. Since this is the year of the 1911, then I really need to get out and shoot this. Oh, yeah. It's chambered for 9x23 Winchester. Hot little number that shoves 125's out at an honest 1450 fps (+ more if you really want).
