If we go to mandatory OT, or an extended schedule at work, another couple new toys are planned. Am thinking a shotgun and levergun to allow me to play SASS. Would like to stay with .44's. Can a .44mag rifle fire .44spec's ? Whats available ? Win94 , Browning, Henry(new repro) steve b

steveb, I'll tell ya what.... I just posted over on the leverguns forum about how happy I am with my recent aquisition of a Rossi Puma in 45Colt. For the money, I think it's been one of the best deals I've ever made on a rifle. I think I enjoy shooting this one over all my Marlins and Winchesters! Rossi currently makes one in 44Mag in both stainless and blued, short or long barrel, octagon or round...your choice. If I'm not mistaken, I think you can run 44Spcl's in the 44Mag 92's, but don't hold me to that....Mr. Taffin or Hobie would definately know...maybe they'll chime in with a better answer. Good luck in whatever you end up buying!!! Here's a terrible pic I took of mine today with a cheap disposable camera... All the Best, Stump

yes you can run 44 spls in a 44 mag rifle I also run 38s in my 357 Lever Action. I just picked up a short rifle with a full octagon barrel casehardened receiver and butt plate in .44 mag. It's nowhere near as slick as my Rev. Jim Taylor tuned Puma in 357, but it is well worth the money and will slick up a bit with more use.

I have several of the (pre-safety) Rossi 92, and like them a LOT. You cab still get 'em pretty cheap at gun shows and such.

I have one in 357 with the 16 inch barrel. It is one of the neatest guns I've ever owned. Very short and handy.
I'm packing it up to be sent to steves guns for a action job, new sights, steel follower.
Get one, you will like it.

I love my Rossi in 44-40 , I got it around 1993 and use it in SASS / CAS matches [ 6.0 Unique / 750 fps in pistol ] , it is super light and with tapered case like 44-40 lets it run smooth and fast , it has NEVER jammed or miss fire in over 15,000 rounds I ran threw this gun that I remenber . I load it to 44 mag spec for deer and the 44-40 seals well from keeping black powder from getting into the action . I have a 1894 Marlin in 32-20 and a 1873 win in 357/38 sp and My Rossi is my favorite ..

I'm thinking about a Rossi Puma in 454. At least,it would compliment my F.A, Model 83 454 Casull. And not worry about the ammo....

I'm kind of partial to the Marlin 94, it's a great gun, light, fast, Accurate, & good looking. Frank
