Actually I don't.... If fact I was so surprised when I saw it I pulled out the few pieces that Kings6 sent us for the project. They are marked the same.. Now... Tell the story for us!

It's from the original run Elgin ordered back in the 1980s (shortly before his death). I believe Starline produced 100K pieces. 20 years later, they've yet to sell out (though I can account for 2,000 of the 100,000). -Lee www.singleactions.com

I haven't seen Gates headstamped 445 in years. Pretty rare stuff if I remember correctly. -Lee www.singleactions.com

So, is there reason to be concerned about the future supply of 414 brass?

I bought 200 pieces of the .445 Gates brass with my DW and still have a box of 50 that have not been loaded. Here is the serial number on my .445 that I bought from Elgin /The Silhouette. Does any body know how many ETG guns were made?

I don't know how many they made but I know it wasn't many. Weren't they very close to the beginning of the run?

Great thread! I bought 200 .414 & 500 .41 Spl cases before I even had project guns. Those are my last ditch emergency stocks & I've got my shooting stock for both on order now. I don't know why, but I love obscure - but properly headstamped - brass..... Here's just a small part of my happy .41 family (used as paperweight on my desk):

Just goes to show you've got to have guns, in order to sell brass. I'm shocked to learn there was that much .414 brass run on speculation. Then again, Elgin could be a pretty good salesman when he wanted to be. I'd like to see more of those guns built, preferrably as single action revolvers.

Speaking of IHMSA runs, Winchester did 100,000 pieces of 375 SuperMag brass back in '84/'85....I was lucky enough to land 700 of those years ago. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I didn't know / remember that. Factory brass sure would save a lot of nuisance with the .375 SuperMag !
