Does anyone know what year the first edition was printed? What is a fair price for a 1979 edition with a slightly tattered dust jacket ? Best Regards, Jay

Hello Jay,
I did a search and this is what I found. Hell, I Was There (autobiography). Los Angeles, Calif.: Petersen Publishing Co., 1979.
I have seen the book go for $50.00 to $100.00+
Hope this helps.

My copy lists 1979 as the copyright date.

If the dj isn't too bad and the book is in vg condition I'd say the low end would be $100. 1979 was when it was first published.
Dennis.

The Ruger Bisley was OK. The trip to Gallagher was strike 1. Sending that said bisley to Turnbull was strike #2. The loaded package M1A was strike #3. Getting into an ebay bidding war and winning a copy of Hell, I Was There, well... I guess I will be re-reading it outside... IN THE DOGHOUSE.

My copy apparently is NOT an original, my wife bought it and SIXGUNS a couple years ago from Midway.

I've seen it bring well under $50 on the auction sites more than once recently. Just depends on who is watching and bidding. SIXGUNS tends to bring more money.

That's a bargain Mr. Tom.
I bought mine at a really nice old shop that was closing down. Ten bucks well spent. The lady behind the counter looked at me funny, because I had an armfull o' gun books. I twitched a little, for her benefit. It's the little things in life.

When I see them at gunshows, the price has always been $75.00.
On other sites the prices vary from $60 to $100. I saw a copy on Graybeards classifieds for $100.00 and Sixguns for $80.00 a couple weeks ago and the books haven’t had a bite.

Valley28 Pick one up if you can find one. The price will be long forgotten by the enjoyment you get. It's a great book. Frank

I loaned my first copy to a so- called "friend" years ago. We had a falling out and didn't speak for years. Saw him a while back and he didn't remember me loaning him the book. I had purchased it from one of the book clubs that advertised in the various gun magazines. Don't think I paid more than $10.00 for it. Got in a bidding war on ebay last week, and well... there is a copy on the way. Cost me 115.00 shipped. I will never drink and bid again. Expensive lesson.

The inside cover of my copy of "Keith, an Autobiography." I wouldn't take a farm in Texas for it. Tom Black
