I have a Grover's Improved No. 5, and was wondering did Bill Grover keep records of how many of a particular model were made, where they went, etc.
No, it ain't for sale.

Borchardt, I'm writing a book on Texas Longhorn Arms. Supposedly, Grover did have a log book of the guns he made, but it was never found when he died. I've been rebuilding what I can one gun at a time by requesting TLA owners fill out a survey form on their gun. I have over 100 guns in my database. Not only does filling out a survey help us estimate the total number of guns produced, it also records parts variations and helps us nail down when he made certain design changes (of which there are several). If you would be so kind, you can find the survey form at: www.tlabook.comOr, you can email me and I'll send you one. Thanks in advance! steve@tlabook.com

Welcome Borchardt, you have found a great place to hang out and share with other triggerophiles. Grovers guns are expensive? Dang it, I was hoping to have one some day ;D ;D ;D

I do not have any first hand information, but, wouldn't the BATF have production record information? I would think they would be tracking everything that comes out of an arms company.

Theoretically, yes. But, getting the information from them isn't as easy as one would think (ask me how I know). Also, the information is self-reported. Even with audits, BATFE relies heavily on the honesty of reporting by the manufacturers.

Got any pictures? This boys can REALLY be helpful when they see pictures.. They really like any history that might be available too! Original purchaser? Any extras like grip upgrades? What caliber? In the Improved Number 5 we see lots of 44s, a few 45s, and I hear tales of a 41... Seems like there was a point in time where the one below wasn't "for sale" either..

Yes but it's brother in 41 Mag was getting blued last weekend! All we need now is the template to put the correct lettering on the barrel. Mr. Harton says it shoots quite nicely.

Hubba Hubba
Every time I gaze on one of those it seems to be mortgage and tuition time. Drat! Anyway, someone, anyone, bring one to CSA.

Agrizz,
It isn't the one you are looking for. I communicated with him when he listed it and got the SN. Sent you a PM with the SN of this one.
