Got a Caspian GSR/Aggie01 railed goverment model and a Foster/Fusion/Aggie01 CCO that I had a ton of fun putting together and have less than 1K in the parts for either....

Good point on the Caspian parts. While I have been out of the custom bullseye 1911 mainstream for 15 years the last paper punchers I had built were done on Caspian frames and slides per the recommendation of the team gunsmith. For a side note take the time to price a complete basic 1911 by a quality manfacturer. Then price the parts. I think that you'll find that you can buy a complete functioning gun for less than you'll spend for top drawer parts. Dang! I just inspired myself! Think I might stop and buy a Springfield RO on the way home today!

Didn't snag one Friday... Shop was to busy. Checked into checkering the front strap 30 LPI and hard chroming the frame. Ouch! I may be breaking out the checkering files myself on this one...

the one with the rampant pony on the side.
Really kind of depends on what you want to do with it. As Zeus said the Baers are nice. But I like Colts (except the Gold Cup). Kimbers are OK but extra $$ for the name and they still use MIMed parts (as does Colt, SW, SA and all but the factory customs ). The SA guns are hard to beat for the money. For a plinker and basic carry gun the GI series can be made into a decent piece with minor mods. Bar stock fire controls, a decent safety and a sight upgrade. I have picked up several old Commercial Colt bullseye guns for $600-$700. With a little tweaking they make great carry guns

I have to admit the Baer gun has a little more soul than that P220 I got from my brother. The Sig is nice but it is still just a tool.

I had a Kimber CDP and sold it because I found an almost new Les Baer custom carry for 1425. I am very glad I bought the Baer, it's absolutely the finest handgun I own.

Baer builds a really nice factory custom. Plus he is pleasant to deal with. He answers the phone often and is always willing to chat. The Ed brown guns are really nice but try to talking to Ed sometime. I was an Ed Brown dealer until I had a couple of minor customer service issues.
I dont have any experience with Fusion other than burying a few parts from Bob when he was first gearing up.
