Saw a story in a gun mag a few years back about truck guns. Thought it was pretty interesting what some people chose as a truck gun and the reasoning behind it. So I decided to start this thread to get some responses. My truck gun is a SIG P6, simply because the finish is worn out, so I don't worry about it. Plus, I don't have much in it. What do you keep in your truck/car?

I have a Tangfolio Witness. poly framed 45 for my bike gun, small enough to fit in trunk of the Wing or in a saddle bag, reliable accurate and was cheap.

Two 357 S&W's (a 2.5" 66 and a Model 60 in an ankle rig). But I've never had different carry pieces for different surroundings. In other words, my house gun, car gun, around town gun, etc, are always the same. -Lee www.singleactions.com

In the good old days you could have a gun in the truck rack but who even has a gun rack any more in the truck. At least if you have it on you always know where it is. By the way Lee I have seen pics of the two Smiths that you pack and I really like that set up ;D

I have to go thru the fine state of Illionois for most of my trips,my gun was chosen mostly for the fact that if I ever get stopped and checked in Illinois I will probably loose it.

Guess I will get a little more specific. The P6 is also a carry gun, with a Smith 442 as a backup. But in hot weather or other situations, the P6 stays in the truck and the 442 stays on me. I never leave the P6 in the truck for long periods of time, or even overnight in my driveway. I lost a Smith Model 66 like that.

I always Conceal Carry a GLOCK 22. So that's my everyday gun. In the truck I keep I used Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle that I paid $75.00 for. Keep it stowed away in it's stock with two spare mags and a spare box of 100rd of .22LR. Reason being if I'm out and about and I want to go plinking or something else when I'm out in the middle of nowhere I can.

Hey JBT. I had a Marlin Papoose I used the same way. Sold it, though. Wish I still had it.

Most of my days are spent in a rural setting & have full access to 4 or 5 farms totaling 2000 acres. So, I was gonna tell about my woods bumming truck. But the more I typed the nuttier it sounded, I'll just say it's equipped for about any target I may encounter. For basic self defense Glock 23's are in all vehicles & the house.

Anybody calculate the energy of that Nissan? My Cummins diesel Dodge 4x4 makes a pretty good projectile too! FWIW general day in day out a 45 ACP 1911 enters the truck when I do.. There are times when I have been known to add a short barrel folding stock 12 guage.. Hard to turn a full length shotgun inside the cab of a truck..
