Duct Tape,
If the picture on the website is to be believed, the Rimrock SWC is not a 429421. That would account for the difference in OAL. I think your swc has more bullet in the case than a "Keith" bullet.

A real accurate load too. TOO SIMPLISTIC. IT DEPENDS. I HAVE SHOT HUNDREDS OF .44s, RUSSIANS, SPECIALS, MAGNUMS, OVER THE PAST 55 YEARS. THERE ARE SEVERAL VARIABLES AT WORK. I HAVE MEASURED .44s WITH CHAMBER MOUTHS ALL THE WAY FROM .425" TO .433"; BULLETS MUST BE TAILORED TO THE INDIVIDUAL SIXGUNS. A LOAD JUST PUT TOGETHER MAY MATCH A PARTICULAR SIXGUN AND THEN IT MIGHT NOT. WITH.431" BULLETS ONE MAY GET ONE-INCH GROUPS; WITH .429" BULLETS, 2-1/2" OR MORE. THERE IS ALSO NOTHING MAGIC ABOUT 7.5 GR. UNIQUE. UNIVERSAL WORKS JUST AS WELL; POWER PISTOL IS ALSO GOOD AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER POWDERS. SKEETER GOT HIS LOAD FROM ELMER KEITH WHEN THE ONLY POWDERS READILY AVAILABLE WERE BULLSEYE, UNIQUE, AND #2400. [/quote] All I was doing was recounting my own experiences.... that's all. I wouldn't presume to tell someone else how to load their own ammo!

It's always been an accurate load for me as well, and my most-used. I interchange the 250gr Keith, a generic commercial cast 240gr SWC, the Hornady 240gr swaged hollowpoint and the Speer 225gr half jacket (sadly discontinued).

I have also shot a lot of those loads, & they were always accurate. when I started a lot of the good powders we now have weren't available. WE live in a time where we have a tremendous selection of really good powders. Frank

Mr. Taffin touched on some very important facts that should not be over looked. Remember its not 1955 anymore and there has been major improvements in powders and as he pointed out you just can't run out and buy a 250 gr. bullet and drop 7.5 gr, of unique and expect wonderful things. There is nothing wrong with that load and done right it can be a magical load but again its not 1955 and I'm sure if Mr. Keith had the technology and components we have today he would have improved on that load. jmho
