according to my Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd Edition, your serial number falls into 1980 serial # range (57K0001-91K6800). The 19-4 came out 1977, and the 19-5 came out in 1982.

Is the S&W Mod 19-4 Nickel .357 Mag - 4" Barrel considered a Combat Magnum even though it doesn't have the roll mark?

Yes, they are the same...the model names changed to model numbers in 1957.

I say go for it. One note..if the hammer and trigger are nickel, it's been refinished. They should be case colored. Just something to look out for. Some folks say not to run a steady diet of strong magnum loads thru these K-frame guns. Others have thousands and thousands of magnum rounds thru them with no ill effects. I mostly shoot 38 special thru mine. I have a model 19, blue, 6incher with jewelled hammer and trigger. I forget what dash number mine is.

Shooter S&Ws are getting harder and harder to find for descent money..even a beat up blue model 10 would be 300 nowadays. If that model 19 was a 2-1/2 incher, it would probably be an extra 100.

The hammer and trigger are case colored from the picture I have.
S&W Mod 19-4 Nickel .357 Mag - 4" Barrel - Very nice 95%+ Condition - White Outline Adj Rear Sight - Target Grips - $379.00 He told me that someone owned it before him painted the white front sight red.
He said that he shot about 80 rounds of 38 Special and 357 Magnum with no problem at all. Going Wednesday to inspect it and see if I will buy it.

Let me contrast that with the boss man's recent pricing of a 19-5 blue 4" at $650... I think you're getting a great deal if it hasn't been renickeled.

The hammer and trigger are case colored from the picture I have and my understanding it hasn't been renickeled based on that.
