Okay... I understand the reluctance to owning up to planned significant purchases for 2011... How about writing about your 2011 projects? While I don't really have anything scheduled I have acquired an interest in the 356 (41 necked to 357), 41 (44 necked to 41), 429 (454 necked to 43) and 455 (475 necked to 45) GNR conversions on the FA 83. The 356 caught my eye and started the questions. Turns out that a simple conversion is a simple conversion. Doesn't matter if it is on a Ruger on a FA. Just so happens that I have 7.5 inch 357, 44, and 454 in the safe. All I'll need is a 7.5 inch 41 to complete the set.

Well I just sent my Vaquero to Clements last week for his "Refined Vaquero" package, plus a few add ons. I'm hoping to have a 5 shot 45 colt bisley built if i stumble upon a suitable base gun. I'd love to have a #5 style gun built also.

Since I've just purchased gun #1 for 2011 and finances are already depleted it'll be little projects for a while.....Like getting the .450" cylinder throats of an Accusport Bisley reamed to .4525" in the hope that it will be transformed from shotgun to shooter. On the subject of throats I need to cast some "fat" bullets to accommodate the .433" cylinders of a Mod 624 and the newly acquired Mod 24. Luckily I've got an Ideal 4 cav 429244 GC that drops at .434". And there WILL be a .480 single action in my future so if the Bisley doesn't respond to reaming...... ;D ;D ;D ;D and it's gotta have a barrel band front sight.

Only two projects to finish up and four to start in '11. I need to send the Marlin cowboy and a Clements OM bisley hammer that just arrived to Ben Forkin so he can send them and a long cylinder octagon barrel bisley vaquero off to Turnbull for CCH. That should wrap up the Forkin Quest gun.
The on new side one is an OM 357 conversion to 44 Special on a 4 5/* flat top that will be identical to JT's Skeeter Skelton S4 gun. Powers two piece grips, TLA base pin adn front sight, one piece ivories etc.
The second new one is the Dustin Linebaugh Quest gun in 500L with the damascus sleeved barrel on a bisley vaquero and who knows what for grips. I've given Dustin pretty much free rein on designing his contribution.
The last is not so much a custom as it is a modification. I snagged an OM 45 Blackhawk with a 4 5/8 that is getting a Powers two iece steel gripframe, Bowen rear sight, Stroh front sight, accessory 45 ACP cylinder and one piece grips of an undecided material. Still not sure on CCH on this gun or not.
There is one more in process but we need to wait and see if it all comes together first since it is a rather unique TLA style project. If it does, you guys will be the first to know about it..

Hmmm, On my "need to get done" list-
1) S&W M-28 conversion to .44spl. (and dammit, I'm keeping this one.) 2) Colt New Service "Fitz" in .45 Colt (have to finish the front sight and scallop the trigger guard.) 3) Restore a customer butchered S&W M-25-2 to a 3 or 4in. carry piece for myself. 4) Restore a poor neglected Colt NS .45- needs barrel, grips and either blued or hard chromed. 5) Convert two Para P16-40s to 10mm raceguns. 6) Overhaul a Marlin Model 27 pump rifle and convert it from .25 rimfire to .25-20. 7) Finish my ......Crap, the list is already too freakin' long to continue here.
Between friends, customers and my own ideas I'll stay busy.

Well, depending the year for me, these may be 2012..2013...2014 projects. It's still fun to dream and plan. Single actions: 38 special on a single six, I still really want to do this project, tho it has been years in the evolving and planning. It's a lot of cost for not a lot of value, but damn it would be cool. NM steel XR3 is already on the base gun. OM Single six conversion to .32 using a NM cylinder and a rebored OM barrel. Been saving a frame, dimpled ER and offset steel ERH for this one for two years already. Just came up with the NM steel XR3 and cylinder in the past year. No. 5 projects: Power custom grip frame on a Lipsey's 5.5" 44 special. Parts are here, just need to get the scratch to put them on! Bisley/XR3-RED weld up on a OM 45 Colt "salvage" gun. .356 GNR on my second cylinder on my OM .357 (already sports a steel OA GF and OM SBH lockwork) 500 Linebaugh on a NM flattop with a rebored N-frame barrel, brass bisley gripframe and Grashorn sheep grips. Considering adding a second max cylinder to my 1.4" 41 for bottleneck wildcat to be determined later (445 supermag necked down at 1.4" - 1.5" (Lee? ) Doing SOMETHING with my Herter's .401 gripframe, and actually getting around to loading for it. The Encore wildcat project: Entire family of cartridges based on the 45-100 case. Double action: 7 shot L frame 357 or a Dan Wesson Pistol Pac. Bottom feeder: finishing all my 1911 projects which seem to be in limbo. 10/22 Sold both my tricked out babies, but still have a Tac Sol barrel and BSA sweet 22 scope in the safe for a rainy day project.

I want something with an octagon barrel. It will probably be a 44 special or 45 colt.

Well I've got a Single Six on the "Rimfire" section of the Ruger Forum that I started in the last week of December thats going to roll into the new year for a while. I also just ordered a Ruger 44spl. Blackhawk 3 minutes to midnight on 12/31/2010 and who knows where that will go. I sure like those 5 shot 50 G.I. conversions that Bowen has done. www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=104888

Have a M29 at Alan's for some tweaking and still debating my M28 to 44 Special conversion as I have a new NOS barrel for it. Mostly plan on working with loads for my 9.3x74 double as it may see a bear hunt in the spring.

I have a OM blackhawk project at Alan's for a conversion to 44 spcl.
Other than that, there are only a few things that might separate me from my money. A TLA #5, something in 475L for the right price

Base Gun: USFA Flat Top Bisley .44spec with 5.5" bbl.
Clements #5 conversion: Grip, Base pin lock, Front sight, Rear sight, Persinger Ivory grips, etc.
After I recieve the gun, it will go to Michael Gouse for 100% engraving.
This will be the crown jewel of my collection.

• Have a brass birdshead grip frame and some Bisley parts that are gonna head to Gallagher for fitment and finishing. • Have a 50th Ann .357 that's gotta get out of here and off to Gallagher for a full makeover and rechambering. • Have a brass Bisley grip frame that's looking for a cylinder frame to get fitted to. • Have a steel Bisley grip frame looking for a cylinder frame to get fitted too and finished. • Have a Ruger #1A in .30-06 that's very likely heading out for a rechambering. • Have three 10/22's in various stages of completion.
Got a full yr ahead. One resolution is getting projects done, give them priority over buying additional firearms. Quality over quantity.
