My great-nephew brought me an old S&W revolver for repair. After removing the grips and side plate, I see it is made differently than any swing-out cylindered Smith I've seen. There is no rebound slide. Instead there is a second spring seated between the front grip strap and the mainspring and the mainspring is farther to the rear than on later models. This spring bears on the hand to tension the hand and return the trigger. The hand is an obvious cobble job, but I believe I can make a new one. There is, however, a hole through the bottom of the hammer, but no part in it. Does anyone know where I can get any info on this action or if any parts are still available? L. O. G.

Does this show what you need? Chris

Chris: That's exactly what I needed. The piece on the bottom of the hammer is missing and I had no idea what it looked like, nor its function. I went on the Old West Gunsmith site, but it doesn't show the assembled parts. Thanks!! L. O. G.
