Gary, congratulations to you, Roger & your friend, those are nice deer, that big 10 pointer is as fat as I am! Nice shooting with the lever gun & I'm coming next year, no matter what.

Not sure how good the lever gun shooting was. I bought this thing almost a year ago but hadnt had an opportunity to shoot it until opening afternoon. The barrel had been cut down to 20" for use by a previous owner who was allegedly a "Texas Ranger" (werent all hacked old Winnies previously owned by a Texas Ranger??). The front sight was standard height so it shot about a foot high at 50 yards with the rear bottomed. I didnt have any front sights with me so I used Oklahoma windage/elevation (similar to Kentucky windage just further west) and took a fine bead at the the bottom of her brisket and double lunged her at 30 yards. She went about 60 yards. Rodger took his 1881 76 in 45-60 but hasnt shot anything with it yet.
