Thank you aciera
Its a long story but the rifle reflects multiple talented gunsmiths Frank Wells, Andy Horvath, Turnbull, Luxus walnut and Dennis Richards.
Dennis did the checkering he also checkered one of the early SCI big five guns I think the rifle was built by Jaeger and was part of a series where individual rifles were sold for over 200K. He was writing a book on checkering and was to use my rifle as he felt it was his best work to-date. Tom Turpin was doing the forward but last time I spoke with Tom the project was on hold.
If you want to contact Dennis let me know.

Nice set-up. The 416 Taylor is one of my favorite big-bore rounds. Here's one I did on a Mauser 98 with a Shilen tube: -Lee www.singleactions.comLee that is one of the most handsome rifles I've ever seen. That it's chambered in the no nonsense 416 Chatfield-Taylor cartridge makes it perfect. I had to recently sell my commercial FN Mauser I'd been saving to build nearly the same rifle you have in the picture chambered for the exact same cartridge. I will need to find another Mauser. Oh, and who cares whether or not I'll ever get to Africa or Alaska, there's a whole lot of big tough rocks that need killing and a whole lot of day dreaming that needs dreaming right here in Arizona. And that's all the justification I need.

Thanks Bile. It's one of my favorite big bores and was pretty cheap to build. $230 for the Shilen barrel, my dad gave me the action, the stock set me back $80, and the sights were $40. Total cost = $350. -Lee www.singleactions.com
