I've been deer hunting for a week, I've seen a lot of deer & quite a high number of bucks, things are looking up in Idaho! I've packed my 7 1/2" Lipseys 44 special for several days & also traded off with my 10 1/2" Ruger 357 Maxie in case I needed to stretch the barrel a little bit over the iron sights of the Lipseys 44 special.
Today I decided to make a little drive up the road to check on one of my son's & a grandson, after spotting them walking off the mountain I headed back to the camper for breakfast....well, after being frustrated all summer I spotted a nice badger working his way across a stubble field, I eased off the road after driving past 100 yds & made my way back towards the oncoming badger.
My Lipseys 44 special was loaded with the Skeeter load of 7.5 grs of Unique & the 240 gr cast hollow point, eveything was assembled in Shootists 44 special brass.
As I peeked over the tall grass in front of me the badger looked my way, stopped for a couple of seconds & kept right on coming my way, at about 35 yds he stopped again & raised his head for a better look, I turned his lights out with a shot through his noggin, he just folded & never moved....yippie, I had blooded my very special SPECIAL!
He's very well furred & the markings are beautiful, anyone wanting a great badger pelt can have this one, I have 3 of them in the freezer now, although one belongs to Barranti.
Here he is posing with the Lipseys 44 special & the superb Barranti crossdraw rig, you can see the Badger track on the holster.
One of the prettiest badgers you will ever see...of course they're all pretty!
