If by luck, skill, or Gods grace, you survive a shooting, you now have to survive the criminal court system, followed possibly by the civil court system. This will be exspensive, and time consuming. The advice given at the start of this thread was short and sweet, and well meant of course. When the LEO's roll up, YOU are the perp, the victim is on the ground, this is only reality. You have just gone thru something no sane man looks forward too. Your brain and body are not in the best of shape to do and say whats in your best interest. Just more reality. Keep it short and sweet, state what happened, then ask for professional counsel. steve b

There is no "good guys" or "bad guys" here. A person doing his job, having maybe a bad day already, gets a call...shots fired ! When they roll up, safety is the first concern, you will be dis-armed with whatever force they deem necessary. First aid concerns follow. You will be searched and cuffed and stuffed into the back of a squad car. You will not feel like you are being treated as a "law abiding citizen". Reality. steve b

The one piece of advice I think makes sense is to pick your defense attorney NOW, before you need one. That gives you time to research and choose one that is well qualified and whose opinion and advice is to be respected.
