I enjoy wearing cowboy boots almost all the time but especially when I am shooting a single action revolver. They just seem to fit in well with a Stetson and a Colt. My favorite brand of boots is Lucchese, hand-made in El Paso since 1883. They recommend a leather conditioning product for their boots made by Bickmore, called Bick 4. The Bick 4 Leather Conditioner worked so well on my boots that I started using it on my leather holsters and gun belts several years ago. It does not darken the lightest leather colors and it leaves a nice satin shine on a holster in addition to cleaning and conditioning the leather. I apply it by rubbing it into the leather with my fingers and then buffing the leather with a lint-free cotton cloth. www.bickmore.com/bickmore/Leather%20Care/Bick4.html
I have also used another product on my holsters called Renaissance Wax. This is a micro crystalline wax that I have used for years on my nickel finished revolvers to protect and polish the plated finish and also on fire or charcoal blued single action finishes. It also works very well on smooth leathers and will not discolor light colors, however, I prefer the aroma of the Bick 4 over the solvent used in the Renaissance Wax and in addition, the leather must be clean before using this product, but it does work well on leather. I apply it with a lint-free cotton cloth and then buff the leather with a dry piece of the same cloth.

As a fringe benefit, when conducting maintenance on my leather holsters and gunbelts, I receive the same satisfaction and enjoyment that I obtain when cleaning my handguns.
