Groo here I believe the twist is 1 in 10 ,the problem seems to be in the boat tail as rem factory is flat base and shoot so good.. My first thought id why go over 140gr??? With modern bullets the extra weight is not necessary .. Unless you are going after big bear up close...

My first thought id why go over 140gr??? You'll burn barrels out faster shooter light bullets in 264s (ie, heavier powder charges). That's one reason I shoot 140s and up. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I plan on using it for deer sized game. No interest in shooting light bullets fast. 129 to 140 grain is about the range I plan to use. Will probably go with 1:8 twist.

And, talk to your rifle/metal smith about desired barrel groove diameter as well as twist and whether you want a buttoned or cut barrel. If you're going with a standard "custom" barrel from Douglas et al you won't get any choice. Does that matter to you is the question.
