the component market is calming down. My wife found a four lb. jug of Unique the other day and paid $60 for it. The last can of Unique I was able to buy was last November for $18.50 a lb. So this four lb. jug was $15 a pound. Great!
I stopped looking about two months ago but I'll take another look at gun stores in the next couple of weeks and see what's happening. Maybe there will be an over supply problem and the sales will start.

It is slowly starting to turn the corner here in S. Nev, too. No powder or primers yet, but loaded ammo, brass & bullets are finally starting to show. Most the gun shops have piles of AR's and other black rifles that have all but stopped selling around the beginning of May.

Yeah, I have seen some stores with an overstock of ARs and even some sitting on the used racks. I think the prices hit a point where everyone just said forget it. Now some of these speculators will start defaulting on their payments and the economy will collapse. ;D

I haven't seen anything like that here in Arizona, everything is still through the roof and no end is in sight, especially for ammo, I had somebody walk in the other day and ask about 38Special and we have been out since I moved to Arizona

I bought 1,000 rounds of Remington 22 LR on Saturday at my local gun store. They had been out for weeks, so hopefully things are improving. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I had sticker shock at the Belleville IL gun show last month. Some real gouging on prices for ammo and primers. WALMART was limiting to 6 boxes of any kind of ammo...and not much choice.
The local gun shop got in FEDERAL 22 LR promotional (?) ammo for $1.49 a box....and had CASES...first time I ever bought that many 22 LR. Primers are hit or miss...he has been holding at around $30/1000 for most sizes; can't keep small pistol in stock; currently has small rifle and large pistol....and lots of 22LR at various prices. Powder at suggested retail. (I am feeling a lot better about paying a little more for guns at his place since he isn't screwing you on components.)

Primers are still way high, but I've seen other components start to creep back to normal. -Lee www.singleactions.com

The local toy store got a bunch of primers and powder in last week. They had some of every size primer except SPM. Now, Guess which was the only primer I'm short on. I did pick up a jug of Bulls eye but I'm still pretty well stocked on everything else. The primers were made by PMC,I've never seen those for sale before but the prices were about what they had been (powder prices, didn't think to check the primer price) before all this craziness started.

One thing I have been seeing which I don't like is older cans of powder on the shelf, like the metal IMR cans, with todays prices. If I could find one dealer with the honest price from way back when he bought it I would buy a few cans.
On a rimfire note I did see 525rd bricks of Federal 22LR at Cabela's in Billings for about $20. And they had some Winchester in those cute wooden boxes for $26.

ammo around here is limited to a box per person per day, and if you bring a bunch of buddies so you can all buy a box, you each better pay from your own wallet or you're still only getting one

I wish it'd come down, and that I could ralk the boss into letting me order some components (that we don't sell anyways) for cost
