Found this little guy when I was mowing this morning. Dont know where he was but thank goodness I didnt run him over . Nice to see these guys around. Living in Jersey they all but disappeared the last 10 years I was there. Living here in PA now I see at least 3 a year.

And here I am calling her a guy . Had one last year that got inside the pool fencing and was here for a week. Not sure if it couldnt find its way out or just liked hanging by the pool ;D

I disturbed a male and a female box turtles last week during a walk in the woods. At least I hope it was a male and female!

Nah they where just wrestling, at least thats what I told my son when we went to the Phila. zoo while a couple of Tortoises where copulating. He was 4 and it was just to complicated at the time to go into.

one of the tales around my neck of the wood is that if a turtle crosses the road and makes it to the top of the hill on the other side of the road it will rain. When i was younger one of my friends asked his dad (a farmer), "why don't we just stop, pick him up and put him on top of the hill." The father replied, "because then it will just cloud up, but it won't rain."
I have no clue why i always remember that story. but these turtle pics reminded me of it.
