My son just picked up a 41 mag 6.5 inch bbl I am looking for loads around 1200 to1250/fps with a 210gr lbt/wgc style bullet. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

My gun likes 9 grains of Unique and 215 swc. I figured about 1100 fps. It also likes 16.8 of #9, and 210 XTP. 21-22 of 296, does good all so. You gotta like the 41.

With the powders you have, and bullet you mentioned, try working up to 18.5 gr 2400. I shoot a 230 gr. Keith bullet with that load and it does right at 1200 fps in my 4 5/8" gun. Accuracy is very good.
To get the velocity you are looking for with the powders mentioned, I would think that 2400, H110, and 4227 will get you there. Lil gun will too, but I don't use it in my guns. HS6 is real good for "medium" loads, and Titegroup is a good "light" load powder. I have used it a lot, but never in the .41.

My three favorite 210 grain 41 loads are: 7.0 of Green Dot 11.0 of HS6 20.5 of H110 As bigmuddy suggested, you may want to try the 230 grain Keith too (pictured on the right): Very accurate in all my 41s and like real Keith slugs has a deep crimp groove. -Lee www.singleactions.com

I try never to use .41 mag on pets, though I've been tempted.
Right now I've got a broken foot that won't heal because of my cat, so who knows ...

With proper bullet fit the 41 maggie will shoot just about anything you put in it, & do it well. I've taken a lot of game with 17-18 grs of 2400 & the 230 gr Keith cast slug. Dropping down to the 210-215 gr slugs with the above charge of 2400 should give you excellent velocity & performance. Probably the biggest complaint over the years about the 41 maggie has been bullet weight, thats been corrected in recent years with many 230-265 gr cast slugs available. I took a cow elk last fall with a 250 gr LBT over 9.2 grs of Unique at 74 yds, complete penetration & she never took a step, this load was running about 1100 fps out of my 5 1/2" Bisley.

If you decide to try some jacketed bullets, these loads are all good but are not punishing. A little stronger than you asked about, but not a lot...
210 gr. Sierra JHC 22 gr. Lil' Gun Win (or Wolf) Large Pistol Primer Mixed brass OAL: 1.565 Feet per second: 10" Contender: 1,750 avg. 7.5" S&W 1,416 avg. Scary accurate! Deer hunting load.
220gr Speer JSP-SWC 18.5gr. Win-296 CCI 350 Mag Primer Mixed Brass OAL: 1.580 FPS: 1,440 (10" Contender)
220gr Speer JSP-SWC 19.5gr. Win-296 CCI 350 Mag Primer Mixed Brass OAL: 1.590 FPS: 1,507 (10" Contender) (best load in Contender...1.5" groups @ 50 yds)

Hi... I have been shooting 215gr commercial cast lead bullets out of my .41s for years. I get great results with 17gr of 2400...reasonably powerful and accurate. FWIW, here are my .41Mags...a Ruger Blackhawk and a S&W 57.
