It's a nice working man's load that has done anything I have asked of it with mild recoil and outstanding accuracy.

Lyman 452664 250gr fp, 12gr Longshot, CCI 300 primer, 1100fps. Nice do it all load under 23,000psi MY EVERYDAY/ALL AROUND "S&W LOAD" IS THE 250gr COMMERCIALLY CAST RNFP OVER 10.5grs UNIQUE IN NICKELED STARLINE CASES WITH WLP PRIMERS. GETS ME MID 1,000fps TO MID 1,100fps DEPENDING ON THE GUN AND THE BARREL LENGTH. GOTTA SAY, I TRY NOT TO BE JEALOUS OF OTHERS GOOD FORTUNE BUT THAT 5" 45 COLT, ESPECIALLY AT THAT PRICE, WOW, WISH IT WAS ME.

I just bought a 5” M25 45colt….its a Rocky Mtn Ram gun. Blued frame and stainless fluted cylinder, 1 of 300. Im gonna try that load with an MP 454-640 bullet.

That 45 colt load can be duplicated with a plethora of other powders. I long for the OP’s gun in ACP, but i probably would have bought it anyway!

I don't know about the 5" being the best N frame but in the .45 Colt the 625-5 is a perfect length. Its barrel is not nose heavy or too short for the caliber and carries better for drawing from a holster than 6" or longer barrels for me.

I think 12grs of Longshot would be a catastrophic overload in most acp cylinders, if it fit in the brass.

When I do shoot the Smith or the SAA clones I reload for them the day I'm going to shoot them then there's no possibility of a problem.

That MP 640 bullet at 1100 isn't exactly a powered down load. It'll shoot through a bison

IF YOU ARE A "RUGER ONLY LOADS" TYPE OF 45 COLT'er THE SMITHS DISAPPOINT, BUT WITH THEIR "S&W LOADS" THEY CAN STILL DO MOST OF WHAT NEEDS DONE IN A BELT GUN.
I LIKE MY "S&W LOAD" SO MUCH I EVEN USE IT IN MY BOWEN ANACONDA BARRELED REDHAWK.

Im not familiar with longshot, but thinking about that charge weight is what made me go back and look at the gun more closely. I sometimes forget they made these in 45c and acp since ive only been looking for one in acp.
