I rough them out on my shop grip frame that I have bolted to a demilled main frame with a barrel stub for clamping in the vice. Once I get somewhat close I installed the clients grip frame on my main frame and going through various protective tape steps to protect the clients grip frame I work the panels down to fit his particular frame. Ideally I get the main frame and grip frame in one piece and the grip frame has been decked and going to be refinished. Then I can CAREFULLY hand sand right down to the clients gripframe. That doesn't mean sanding the metal but down to sanding through the finish that is to be reapplied by the gunsmith.

Those are gorgeous. Robb you are seriously talented. I’ve tried making a few sets of grips and every time I do, I always appreciate the skills of guys like you and Zane. Worth every nickel.

Pacecars, it seems like a model 97 shouldn’t be much different than most other SA grip frame so I see no reason not to try making a set for a Model 97.
