The’92 is indeed stronger, but “superior” is a matter of opinion 😀. There’s nothing like the “chink” sound from the toggle link actions. I once broke a mainspring on my 1873 manufactured in 1886 during a CAS match. Still was able to complete the last two stages with that rifle. No wonder they were popular on the frontier.

The cool factor on the 1873 knows no bounds. I'm pretty hyped about adding the one I've been wanting.
But, the 92 is stronger, lighter and more compact than the 73, AKA Faster... In the days when most traveled by horseback or walked, every aspect of the 92 was superior.
These days, I have a Ford Pickup and a Honda SxS. So, that probably evens the playing field somewhat.

I think that the 73 is one of the most handsome rifles ever made.
I'll have to go back and read the 73 section in The Winchester Book again.

They are beautiful guns. I actually prefer the blued actions over the CCH on the 73s.
They also feed straight and work just fine with straightwall cartridges.
I may get on the list for a 357 Magnum and 45 Colt.
This Short Rifle has a thinner barrel and not nearly as heavy as some I've held.

Hmmm, a .327 Fed or .32 H&R in a 73 would be cool

Hmmm, a .327 Fed or .32 H&R in a 73 would be cool have been told that it is [ or would be ] tricky and take a lot of work to make a 73 function properly with the 32 H&R i was intrigued by the idea, and at one point VTI had barrels in 32 H&R so maybe uberti was briefly trying to make these

The original 1873s were built in several 22 Rimfires. I'd think a 32 Magnum would be no big effort.

It leaves me curious about the 32-20. If the modern guns will hold the 357 Magnum, seems logical the 32-20 could be loaded pretty sporty!!!
I realize the 357 Magnum has largely replaced the 32-20 with good reason. But, I like a lot of the traditional cartridges.
The 357 Magnum is no slouch in a rifle...
