9/24/24 I WENT TO MY RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE, ONLY LOW 80's BUT HUMIDITY WAS UNBELIEVEABLE AND SWEAT WAS RUNNING DOWN MY FACE, WAS ALSO PARTLY CLOUDY BUT VERY SUNNY AND ALTHOUGH NOT WINDY IT WAS MISERABLE SHOOTING WEATHER.

I can deal with the heat and humidity pretty well. But I have a love/hate relationship with the cows on our place. They love, love, love to gather and stand down range anytime I want to set up and shoot for a while. I finally gave up and started carrying either cattle cubes or a few bales of hay to another part of the ranch and 'call' them up to keep them busy for a few hours. And I swear the beasts have figured out that when they see my truck arrive, 1. they know I'm going to be shooting, and 2. they know I'll feed them...all they have to do is get in my way.
They may look dumb, but they're pretty smart quite honestly.

The target that has some little jiggle maker embedded in the paper that makes it move once it hears the shot!🤣

Quail hunting for 5 hours without success when I came to a fence I wanted to cross. As you are supposed to, I unloaded my Browning SxS to cross the fence. I got hung up on some barbed wire and took some time to clear myself. I took about three steps from the fence and a full sized covey got up about 15 yards away. Up came the gun . . . and click! I had forgotten to reload. Of course that was the only covey of the day.

A canoe/kayak rental place upstream of me. Anything with a motor or aluminum hulled can easily be heard with E-muffs on. Solo people floating along in plastic, or such hulled craft, worry me. The Grand river is just beyond my range and allowances to make. Every day now, the river easier to see as the leaves fall. The view of the river constantly changes. Ok, back to topic. What frustrates me most about shooting is aging eyes, a tremor that randomly shows up, sensitivity issues with my hands from a life of work. The usual for many of us. This is little stuff, my GOD has given me a good life. Been my job mostly to just not screw it up ! So far, so good !

The fact that the primer is now the most expensive part of several of my loads.

Powder prices are FAST catching up primer prices here. Older eyes can be helped or fixed most times. Hand tremors and getting older not so much. The offhand days are nearly over, though I still try.

Shooting with cataracts, especially open sighted firearms. I'm going for a consultation about mine next week. Hard to compete when you can't see.

I shot a match a couple years ago the temp at the start was -21 and it warmed all the way up to -11. That's when I realized I was knocking on the dam I'm old door. In March I had a pretty serious heart attack and I still having issues that have kept me from shooting at least my heart and chest are doing great it's just the rest of me that is causing my pain.
