Those 2 boxes of bullets Zeus is referring to are 2 boxes of 50 each that Mark Hampton sent to me & I never shot any of them. Now I guess it was for a reason. I have divided them up among a few Shootist buddies that were friends with Mark, Zeus being the closest & we have made a pact among us to put these special bullets he shared to good use. As fall rolls around I'm sure you will be hearing from 4 other guys that are stepping in to help honor this great example of our sport. I hope I'm not done yet & the others are just getting started, stick around.

TRIBUTE TO THE MAN #2 Awhile back, Dick contacted me to share his plan of the two boxes of Cutting Edge Bullets (CEB)- I was on board from word go! I thought this would be a fantastic and honorable way to pay tribute to one of, if not the most, successful handgunners of all time. There’s probably not an animal on the earth, that's legal to hunt with a handgun, that Mark hasn’t taken. I received 20 bullets from Dick and loaded them up with the same load Dick used for his elk - 25gr of H110. Dick said that load shot great in the guns he tried it in, so I seen no need to start anywhere else. I decided to sweeten the tribute just a little and decided to use a custom Magnaport Stalker Blackhawk that used to belong to Mark - Glenn got it from Mark and I got it from Glenn. The Stalker was zeroed for a 240xtp over 23.5gr of H110. I figured the 200gr CEB’s would shoot a little lower and would require a little elevation adjustment. Once shooting them, I was surprised to see they shot to the exact point of impact as the XTP load - great, less shooting required! By the way, the CEB’s were very accurate from the Stalker. Yesterday morning was opening day of our general gun season and Mark’s tribute hunt was priority. I was armed with the CEB’s and Stalker. I’d made up my mind that if it was a legal deer, it would be made famous. It was a great 32* morning and anticipations were high. I settled into my stand overlooking some four year regrowth in a thinned pine plantation. After getting my camera gear and all set up for video documentation, it didn’t take long for the first sighting - a yearling 3pt made his way down a ditch to cross at a crossing 20 yards in front of me. He was a legal deer, but I really didn’t want to shoot him. Luckily, three does were approaching from my right that the little buck made me aware of. This shifted my attention to the biggest doe. The early morning wind was light and variable, with thermals not rising yet, so I knew I needed to take the first shot opportunity she presented or else she would definitely end up winding me. At approximately 50 yards, she stopped, slightly quarter to me, and threw that nose high in the air - I knew it was now or never. She was presenting an OK shot, but not good video footage, but again, her nose was in the air. I got her centered up on the video frame, eased in my ear plugs, and then grabbed that cold steel revolver. With crosshairs settled just behind the shoulder (shoulder was obscured) I eased back the hammer and began to squeeze that smooth trigger. At the break of silence, I knew it was a good shot. I was able to remove my ear plugs just in time to hear her crash. The 200gr CEB entered exactly where I intended. The doe made a death run of about 75 yards before tapping out. Shown is the onside entrance and the exit was about 2” further back on the offside. It was a real honor to be able to honor and pay tribute to one of handgun huntings best - Mark A. Hampton.

Great Job! I love that last photo… That photo was extremely challenging! It was take over three hours after the shot and rigor mortis had set in. I had to cut a few tendons/muscles to get her posed in that position - about whooped me!

Congratulations Kim, your shot placement always seems to be spot on! And to use one of Mark's guns along with those 200 gr HP's is even better, great job as always.
