In the late '70's, my wife worked at a gun shop and brought home a S&W model 34 4". Took it out to the railroad tracks to shoot some cans and such. There was this duck swimming in a pond at about 60 yards. I wanted to just stir him up so I aimed at his head and pulled the trigger. It was a little low and went through his neck spilling blood all over the pond water as he spun around. First and last ever with a handgun. Use shotguns for hunting.

Hard to say, that was 45+ years ago, likely a sparrow or such like. 1st thing edible was a January Doe, with a NM Blackhawk in 357Mag. all the other deer were with 45Colt Blackhawk's. On the farm, most anything was fair game.

When I was a teenager my father had a H&R 922. He wasn't a handgun guy, so it just sat in his gun room. I asked him if I could use it. He just laughed at me and handed me the gun and a case of 22lr. He said he learned to shoot it by going to the dump and shooting rats, so that's what I did. I then bought a Ruger and that was my rabbit and squirrel gun until I got a S&W 617.
