I apologize if this is old news and I have missed the boat so that unmarked Ruger barrels are now a thing.
Tonight I was comparing a couple of Bisleys, noting how different the grip frame of my early 2000s .45 Colt is compared to my newish .480 grip frame. While turning things over, I noticed the .480 has absolutely no markings on the barrel. None. I bought the gun as "unfired" from a fellow who says it was a factory supplied replacement for an unrepairable 480 Redhawk. Maybe Ruger special assembled this one and missed the rollmark? Or maybe my senility has finally taken its toll, and unmarked barrels are now common? Another oddity I noticed is that the last three digits of the SN hand engraved into the grip frame are transposed. It is SN 798 and the grip frame is scribed 978. I'm sober as a judge. . . I swear.
Anybody care to set me straight?
Revisiting the grip frame variation, I can't figure out how anyone can produce one panel that would work on both guns. The panels I'm fitting to the 480 would have gaps approaching 1/8" on the older 45. . . .
All of this started with me wanting to create a little knuckle room behind the 480s trigger guard. I've been reading about JRH and Linebaugh's grip frame modifications, mixed in with looking at RW's work and wondering when his stainless frames will appear.
OK - Never claimed I didn't have A.D.D. in addition to senility, only that I'm not drinking on top of the two. Rambling paused for the moment. . . .
Best Regards,
Randy

Look under the barrel. Also some remove the warning.

I have some newer Rugers with the under barrel warning, but this one has no markings anywhere on the barrel. The seller seemed honest and the gun certainly appeared unmolested and as new in the shipping bag.
So I gather this is very unusual if factory?

Just a thought. Pull the ejector rod housing to see if the roll marking is under that.
As for transposing the numbers on the frame/grip frame,, we are all human. It can happen.

Randy I've never seen or even heard of a factory replacement but if that's indeed the fact, I wonder if Ruger doesn't put the warning on a replacement gun?

Maybe they assembled the gun from parts to satisfy the very disgruntled customer and just missed roll marking this barrel? Nothing earth shattering, but I’d never even heard of a factory gun with no markings.

That makes it a rare "You're free to sue them model" :-)

I have owned a couple of "Warning Model" Single Sixes that were devoid of any "Warning" marking on the barrel. The were purchased NIB from distributors/dealers. Not totally unusual, but every once in a while one gets past final inspection with out the Warning.
