Pig (sow) down this morning with my Freedom Arms M83 in .41 magnum. 50ish yard shot and a very long blood trail. 210 Aframe over H110.

Looks like good shot placement with a great premium bullet. You say very long blood trail, any ideas why it didnât go down quicker? I know unexpected stuff happens with live game. Nice gun, pig and photo.

Nice gun, pig and photo. Yeah I know exactly why since I videoed it. Right at last second, the hog turned quarter to me. That hole in the pic is the entry wound. Explains the larger entry hole and the Aframe only caught one lung. âStuffâ happens.

200yds really isn't bad with a single lung shot. I've seen them go farther shot like that with a 30/30.

A hog can cover 200 yards in the blink of an eye after a shot. Nice work bud!

Iâve gotta say the entry hole is impressive, what did the exit hole look like, bigger than the entry?

Very nice. Yes, "stuff" happens and that is why I advocate practicing on hogs. If things go South and you dont recover it, meh. If it were a deer and I didn't recover it I would lose sleep for a year second guessing everything. Ya did real well. With that A-Frame bullet, what would you think about centering the shoulders on the hog? Provided you aren't wanting to eat the shoulders of course. When I want a hog to eat and cant get a headshot with a rifle I center the shoulders, then cut out the hams and loins. The rest goes to coyote bait.

I think the Aframe through a shoulder would work fine up to about a 100# hog. ButâŚI really like the shoulders from a sow. Delicious smoked like a brisket or in a crockpot. I normally aim for the head but this was my first animal with the Aframe out of a 41 magnum, so I really wanted to see how it would perform on a ânormalâ shot.

Kudos on the pig. Your posting was perfect timing. On the Ruger Forum,, a guy was asking about "what happened to the .41 Magnum?" Well, I copied & pasted your post to show him that the .41 was indeed alive & well! As I told him; "If you have to ask,, you just don't understand."
