I've spent considerable time this afternoon loading and shooting this gun from the bench.
It's digested every load and sent bullets downrange with stunning accuracy.
The cylinder allows a C.O.A.L. of just over 1.855". The 1-16" twist stabilized heavy bullets even at modest velocities.
Free spin cylinder, top quality rear sight, action job, scope base and many other features makes these guns a top choice.
I texted Fermin and he'll have me an upgraded front sight here in no time.

After a full weekend only shooting and focusing on this gun, I find two shortcomings.
Granted, "shortcomings" is a point of view.
I don't care for the ramped front sight. I can live with it, but I don't care for it on any guns.
Luckily, that one is easy to fix. BFR Sights are held on by a screw and easily changed. Fermin has my order and is working on a replacement.
Second, the edges of the trigger guard are a bit sharp. Also easily fixed by anyone with a general knowledge of metalwork. I rounded mine slightly and used Multi-Grit Emory Board to match the original finish...

Very excited to hear more about this one. Really interesting revolver! Doesn’t look half bad either. And from the Great Land of 10,000 lakes.

I've gotten a couple BFR'S where the trigger guard was more than a "little sharp". Now they all get the trigger guard rounded off before they are ever fired. Also any newer style get the hammer swapped to the sbh style.

I'm also a fan of the Wide Spur Hammer. But, the new one has impressed me as well.
Ditto on the sharp edges. This is my 6th BFR and I've rounded all of them.
The Bisley(ish) Gripframe is impressive too. Makes me meditate about #7 being a 500 Linebaugh...

One of my often carried, especially when checking bait, is my 5-1/2" (true measure from forcing cone) 500L Bisley. Grip slightly reshaped at the toe, defanged trigger guard, sbh-style hammer, 2-Dogs brass long range front sight, Chigs Elmwood burl grips, riding in a Doc Barranti #5 rig. Loaded with the MP 512-525 large hp on #9 for 1000fps. Over an ounce of lead is impressive, especially expanding to nearly 3/4" before blowing off the petals leaving 390grs of base to continue on. The 512-525 is one of the 640 design on steroids.

I had a thought about the “lure” of a six shot 454. It would be a multi tasking machine! Target shooting, Training (No better way to eliminate anticipation of recoil), CAS shooting since it is based on 5 rnd courses of fire and the chamber under the hammer empty even with a hammer block safety, Hunting, Convenient Bear/ Cougar defense in the woods, even self/ home defense with good HP bullets. (Just thinking about that going off in an enclosed building would make it a last resort though!🥴) One gun, one trigger press, one manual of arms for all of those. (I still have suppressable FNs for duty and home, however.😜)

It's as close to a "Do All" revolver as I've ever seen. The BFR has a Transfer Bar, so perfectly safe fully loaded. (I carry them all fully loaded)
That being said, it's best if you're a handloader.
Of course, experienced revolver guys fully understand there's no harm in shooting 45 Colt in the 454 Chambers.

No doubt it’s a sweet toy! Maybe I’m either spoiled or something. I started on the FA in the 80’s before there was a field/premier distinction. That first gun will stay for the great nephew even though he’s not as big a gun nut as most. Did own a second hand .44 silhouette model for a long time- the right guy offered me way too much dinero! Eventually owned a pair of pretty generic used field grade 7-1/2” in duh .454 but didn’t keep them-profit talks! Bought a Taurus Raging Bull for giggles to see if they had a clue- sold it at a loss cause it stunk outside of accuracy and was shooting looser than a democrats lips in 500 rounds. Out comes the Super Redhawk and oh wow a sixshot- accurate, tough etc and duh 6shots but dimensionly so loose that the 9-1/2” barrel lost velocity race with not only 5 different 7-1/2 FAs I. My stable but struggled to tie my 4-3/4 gun for speed. Down the road it went pretty much at break eve; in some crazy trade for a n old Austrian drilling that eventually left for new ownership. Don’t get me wrong I’ve owned a few and regret parting with one BFR but an extra shot in .454- am too old, too arthritic and too blind to need the 1st five! Great looking piece though and I’ll bet it outshoots or shoots as well as most any precision revolver ever built right out o& the box

Just had a thought thought, am way too past it- but one of my favorite old NEI molds that requires either deep seating over the driving band or a .45 Colt case to barely and I do mean barely as in don’t jump the crimp fit in a FA cylinder would might barely fit with a judiciously trimmed .454 case. Colt case in crimp groove delivers 1400fps in a tight built 4-3/4 gun, a few more grains of capacity plus a slightly longer barrel might add new velocity to Ross Seyfrieds old bone crusher Gould nosed bullet. In reality probably not much though as my short gun does 1390fps & the 7-1/2s only jump to 1410fps

YEAH, I'm a big FA Fan too. This (and all) BFRs are big guns with a purpose.
It'll never replace my FA97 45 Colt or 44 Special because they're so easy to carry.
It's interesting to ponder just how strong the BFR 44 Magnum would be?

It's interesting to ponder just how strong the BFR 44 Magnum would be? Obviously not as strong as the 357! They all have plenty of high grade steel in the chamber walls. You should see the wall thickness in my cousin's 5-shot older 41mag BFR.
