There was a time when revolvers ruled in NRA 3 Gun (currently called NRA Precision Pistol). It preceded me but from what I understand the alibi rule allowed the semi autos to move in and take over. Back in the revolver days I understand they shot the entire course single action. That was 30 rounds at 50 yards holding the gun with one hand fired in 10 minute 10 shot strings (slow fire). Then 30 rounds in 5 shot strings at 25 yards in 20 seconds (timed fire) still holding the gun with one hand. Then 30 rounds in 5 shot strings in 10 seconds (rapid fire) again holding the gun with one hand. This was done 3 times (rimfire, centerfire, 45) for a 2700 point possible match. Kings made an offset hammer to make the hammer more reachable when shooting sustained fire. While I have cultivated interest in shooting the match with revolvers my arthritic thumbs won't reach the hammer. The hot dawg palm shelf and thumb rest grips don't work for my old hands either. Means that sustained fire at 25 yards for me will be DA only. Holding 14(38)/17(22)/25(45) revolvers. Just ordered a set of triggers from Numrich to grind smooth, round off and polish. Pictures? You know they are coming!

Note all three have the standard bullseye patridge front sight. We'll match them all up trigger wise with a rounded, slick, smooth, DA style trigger. The last modification will be Pachmayr Signature grips across the board.

Very cool! We have Precision Pistol at the local club which I started shooting back in February. I've been shooting my K22. I'm not competitive in the rapid fire stage yet but it's a fun thing to try and master. Definitely seeing improvements in all of my handgun shooting.

We started a 2 gun bullseye match at our local club , have been using a 8 3/8” K22 and a 6” M19 with .38’s. just bought a really tight 6” colt officers model, I have a currently 4” 10 shot colt king cobra that combo will get a chance.

I am trying to remember the rules. I believe it was a revolver for rimfire, centerfire and military cartridge. Many choose the three shown by AxeHandle. Some, chose to use the Model 1950 or Model 1955 for both centerfire and Army cartridge so only needed two revolvers. That would be the route I would opt if I were to want to go down the competition rabbit Warren again.

Here are the front sights. FWIW barrels are pinned in all three revolvers. The 22 and 38 front sights are pinned. The 45 is not.
